Olivia And Ethan Plath Prove They're On Very Different Pages With Kim And Barry's Divorce

For the Plath family, the stars of TLC's reality show "Welcome to Plathville," there have been a lot of changes unfolding. Recently the founders of the brood, parents Kim and Barry Plath, shared sad relationship news. After decades together, they are getting a divorce (via People).

Kim confirmed the couple's split to the publication with a statement which read, "After considerable thought and discussion, we have decided to end our marriage." She continued, "While this was not an easy decision, we know it's the best choice for both of us. We have been through many highs and lows in our 24 years of marriage and as we navigate this new chapter in our lives, we will co-parent our amazing children."

For viewers of "Welcome to Plathville," the split isn't all that surprising. During the show's fourth season, Kim and Barry had been living separately (via InTouch Weekly). However, some of the Plath kids, including eldest son Ethan, didn't see his parents' divorce coming.

While the split is bringing Ethan closer to his family, his wife, Olivia, seems to have different feelings.

The couple doesn't agree on reconnecting with Ethan's parents

For Ethan Plath, his parents' divorce was a bit of a surprise, telling People, "I would probably prefer to stay out of it, honestly." However, the separation has allowed him to get close to his father, Barry Plath, again. Though, he doesn't seem to have much interest in connecting with his mother at this point, at least according to a clip of the show shared on TLC's Twitter account.

Another clip from an episode of "Welcome to Plathville" Season 4 shows how Ethan and his wife share different feelings when it comes to the divorce. Olivia Plath has had issues with Ethan's parents, his mother specifically. While Ethan is using the separation to rebuild his relationship with his father, Olivia is not as interested in working on that same goal.

Ethan shared that he isn't ready to connect with his mom again, but is working on his bond with Barry. "Yeah, I mean I don't know. It would be like super, super, super awkward to like hang around her and do normal stuff," he admitted. Barry then asks Ethan, "Are you thinking at some time you'll sit down and talk to Kim?" Ethan responds that he will, just not that day.

Olivia was asked during a confessional how she felt about Ethan seeing his mother again. She said, "I mean I have my own set of feelings about Ethan talking to his mom, but it's not my decision and it's not my place to really say anything."

Time will tell how things work out for the fractured family.
