Inside One Life To Live Star Trevor St. John's New Secret Role On The Young And The Restless

When the show "One Life to Live" was canceled in 2012, several characters were moved over to ABC's remaining soap, "General Hospital." While characters have been shuffled between shows in the past, the actors themselves also moved around in the soap world. Actors like Scott Clifton, Vincent Irizarry, A. Martinez, and Stephen Nichols among many others have traversed the soap world over three networks, playing different characters and engaging in different universes (per Soaps She Knows). They are able to illustrate their versatility and have created memorable roles that have become fan favorites.

Actors like Roger Howarth not only reprised their "OLTL" characters on "GH," but played different roles on the show as well.

It's not uncommon for soap opera production companies to announce that an actor has been signed to be on a show, but keep exactly who that person's going to play a secret. It was announced in May that actor Josh Kelly — who was previously on "One Life to Live" — would be joining the cast of "General Hospital," but they kept his role secret leading to a lot of fan speculation as to who he would play. This helps to keep the fan base talking about the shows as they try to guess who the actor will be playing.

Now, a similar announcement has been made about another "One Life to Live" alum, Trevor St. John, this time joining the cast of another soap.

The veteran soap actor is headed to The Young and the Restless

In 2014, Celeb Dirty Laundry reported that Trevor St. John was replacing Michael Muhney as Adam Newman on "The Young and the Restless," speculating that while most fans wouldn't want Muhney replaced, St. John would be an acceptable alternative. That never happened. The site then reported in 2017 that St. John was to play Frank Barritt, father of Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and ex-husband of Sharon (Sharon Case) on "Y&R." That too was not to be.

Now, Deadline reported that it's happening and St. John will begin work on "The Young and the Restless," in an as-yet undisclosed role, beginning in the fall. CBS' Twitter post confirmed the news by welcoming him to the show, with several fans offering their congratulations. In a follow-up post, the "Y&R" Twitter page also referenced the Deadline article announcing his addition to the show. Some viewers speculated that he could be the son of Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) who's come to town to avenge his father's death. Cheat Sheet reported several wild speculations as to who he could be playing.

Soap Opera Digest also chimed in, with several fans stating that they stopped watching the show but will now resume viewing with this announcement. One fan replied, "This is fantastic news. I love this guy. I can't wait to see him on Y&R."

Whatever character St. John plays, soap fans across the board are excited to see him return to the genre.
