Elena Goode Stayed At A Haunted Hotel While Filming Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin - Exclusive

The new spin-off "Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin" has been full of spine-tingling moments. As fans of the original series can attest, the newest installment is even darker, bloodier, and more horrific than ever before.

When actress Elena Goode, who plays Noa's mother, Marjorie, was cast in the series, she was stoked to be able to play heavily into the horror element of it all. "I do love the genre so much, and I'd always wondered, 'What would it feel like? Would you have to act, or would you really genuinely be scared?'" she said during an exclusive interview with The List. "The answer is genuinely scared."

Crazily enough, many locations that were part of the horror series were actually filmed at haunted locations. "Everything felt pretty haunted around where we were," Goode told us, "and there's some interesting stories in history in one of the towns, the towns that me and the other actresses playing the mothers were staying in."

In fact, there was one haunted hotel in particular that often kept Goode up at night.

The area she was staying in sat on hundreds of unmarked graves

While Elena Goode was staying at a hotel near the set, she wasn't feeling as energized as she usually did. "I hadn't been sleeping that well," she admitted to The List.

Her good friend — who also happens to be a channel — had been hoping to send her a gift. However, as soon as Goode shared her hotel's address, her friend immediately knew that something was off. "She opens the link. She looks at the image of the hotel, and I didn't tell her this, but she goes, 'How are you sleeping?'" Goode said. It was then that the actress decided to do some digging.

Once it got dark out, Goode decided to research what had happened in the area she was staying in. It turns out, the church right outside her window was hiding a pretty scary story. "It was built on top of over a hundred unmarked graves," Goode told us. "The pastor would say that people wouldn't want to work in the church past 10:00 at night, and that there was this sense of people being in there and feeling that they were being watched, that there was an energy of unrest."

While Goode may have not been able to get a good night's sleep, the eerie environment helped get her into character. After all, A is always watching.

New episodes of "Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin" are released each Thursday exclusively on HBO Max.
