- Mary has published three novels ("Living by Ear," "Leaving the Beach," and "It Doesn't Have to be That Way") and is working on a fourth.
- "Leaving the Beach" was a semifinalist for the 2017 BookLife Prize, earned a bronze medal in the 2016 IPPY Awards, and received positive reviews from Publisher's Weekly and Kirkus.
- "It Doesn't Have to be That Way" was shortlisted in the 2017 Faulkner-Wisdom Creative Writing Competition.
Experience
Mary co-edited her college literary magazine and taught English for six years, but didn't pursue her own writing dreams until after the birth of her second child. Her novels and audiobooks are available at all major retailers, and her essays can be found online at Huffington Post, Feminine Collective, Mutha Magazine, Women Writers, and Medium. Mary also adores live music, so she loves her summer job as an usher at Boston's best waterfront music venue. Another of her passions is waste reduction; ask nicely and she may make you a skirt out of an old pair of jeans.
Education
Mary holds a BA in English from Providence College, where she was fortunate enough to have studied poetry and creative fiction with acclaimed feminist poet Jane Lunin-Perel.
