The Workout Routine Jessica Alba Swears By

Jessica Alba might be best known for her roles in blockbuster hits like "Sin City" and the "Fantastic Four" franchise (per IMDb), but behind the scenes, she something of a wellness warrior. Alba launched The Honest Company, a line of clean and chemical-free baby products that has since expanded to include products for adults, in 2011. A decade after its inception, the company went public at a value of up to $1.7 billion, according to Forbes.

Besides running a wellness brand, the actress says that holistic self-care is the secret to her youthful glow. "Obviously having great beauty products and sleeping really helps, but you do have to, I think, practice those holistic things that make you healthy, otherwise it doesn't really matter what kind of cream or makeup you have," she explained to Shape. Her healthy habits include meditation, staying hydrated, and following a simple but consistent skincare routine.

Alba also prioritizes personal wellness through working out. You can sometimes see her in action on social media, hiking on TikTok, or hopping on a stationary bike in an Instagram video. The actress also shared the go-to workout routine that helps keep her in shape.

Jessica Alba's full workout routine

In July 2022, Jessica Alba posted a clip to Instagram with the caption, "I've been working with my girl @ramonabraganza to try and get back on my ish — it ain't easy, but we're doing it!" In the video, Alba can be seen doing a full workout routine, starting with a 30-minute cardio warm-up on a stationary bike. Then, she kicks off a full-body circuit starting with 15 standing rows. It's "a great back exercise" that "recruits stabilizing muscles," Alba's trainer Ramona Braganza told Shape. The actress-turned-entrepreneur then does 15 Bulgarian squats per leg with an optional jump added to each.

Next, Alba moves on to 10 barbell chest presses, followed by ab crunches using sliders under her feet — "5x going one way, then 5x going the other," according to the caption. Using sliders to transition from a plank to a crunch position keeps the abs engaged throughout the entire motion, says Braganza.

The circuit is repeated three times before ending in a stretching session, which is "so important," according to Alba.

How to exercise like Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba's cardio and circuit workout is one way she gets moving, but it isn't the only way. Her trainer Ramona Braganza told Women's Health that the actress loves mixing it up when it comes to her workout regimen. Alba tries a variety of warm-up exercises to keep things fresh. Then, she and her trainer experiment with different strength training moves.

The Honest Company founder also told Byrdie that she doesn't like repetitive exercises. To avoid growing bored, she opts for high-intensity workouts, spin classes, and hot yoga mixed with weight training. She also noted, "I'll always work out with a friend because it's more fun."

While some celebrities may have intense workout routines, Alba has learned to go easy on herself. She told Women's Health, "I've learned to mix it up [when working out] and not feel like a failure if I'm not, you know, killing myself." Rather than hitting the gym every day, she's content exercising two to four times a week.
