What Happened To Zack And Irina From Season 4 Of Love Is Blind?

"Love is Blind" Season 4 took Netflix by storm in March 2023. Fans rooted for Brett and Tiffany and held their breath as Kwame and Chelsea exchanged vows. Although Jackie and her first pick Marshall broke things off midway through the season, she did find a lasting connection with Josh, another cast member. So far, four Season 4 couples are still together, proving that love is truly blind — well, kind of.

Zack, a Seattle-based criminal defense attorney, and Irina, who owns an event planning business, hit it off early on in the pods, sharing their vulnerabilities through a wall. Zack was raised by a single mom, and Irina's family moved to the U.S. from Russia when she was little. Both families struggled financially. "You have a very powerful presence," Zack told Irina in Episode 1 of the show, revealing later to producers, "I've had people in the past that I was in love with, and their family judged me because of how I was raised." With Irina, he felt understood. Although Zack also shared a strong connection with Bliss, a senior program manager, he eventually decided to commit to Irina in Episode 3, singing her passionate rendition of "Sara Song" by Ludo (changing it to "Irina's Song") before proposing. She said yes, and the couple prepared to meet in person... Here's what happened to Zack and Irina from Season 4 of "Love is Blind" — as far as love stories go, this one's pretty messy.

It wasn't love at first sight for Zack and Irina

When Zack and Irina met face-to-face, sparks didn't fly. "Meeting Zack, there was something that initially didn't feel right in my gut with him..." Irina told Fox 13, adding, "I just didn't feel comfortable around him. I felt like I couldn't be my full 100% self." As she clarified, her discomfort wasn't due to his looks — some of it, she said, came down to his singing... "If I really truly loved Zack and was ready to marry him, I wouldn't have those things. His singing would be cute, not annoying," she shared with Extra correspondent Rachel Lindsay.

Zack, too, regretted his decision almost immediately. "On day two, I was really ready to leave Mexico. I decided to stick around out of respect because I thought it would be humiliating for someone to leave you in Mexico," he explained to BuzzFeed. By Episode 5, Zack told Irina that he wanted to pursue a relationship with his pod-ex, Bliss, and Irina divulged that she was attracted to Paul — yes, the same Paul who was engaged to her friend Micah Lussier.

Although Bliss expressed hesitancy at first, she and Zack reconnected in person, got engaged, and tied the knot at the end of the series. The Lee Ann Womack song "I Hope You Dance" — which they bonded over in the pods — played at their wedding. Meanwhile, since the show premiered on Netflix, Irina has been declared a "mean girl" by the internet.

Irina faced backlash for her behavior on the show

Along with Micah, Irina was criticized for her Season 4 "mean girl" behavior. The friends appear to laugh as Jackie cries on the couch in Episode 2, and, as Bliss revealed in the reunion episode, Irina even texted her saying "You dodged a bullet" in reference to Zack (via TikTok). Looking back, Irina isn't proud of how she acted. In April 2023, she released an Instagram apology. "It was very immature and naive of me in a lot of those situations," she explained, adding "I just want to say that Zack, Bliss, Amber, Jackie, Micah, none of those people deserved to be treated the way that I treated them."

Nonetheless, fans have been less than forgiving. During the now-infamous "live" reunion episode, audience members audibly laugh as she attempted to apologize. Backlash on the internet has been even more explicit, with critics targeting Irina's (and Micah's) appearance — the critiques even led former "Love is Blind" contestant, Shayne Jansen, to defend her in the comments section of a March 20 post. "Poke fun, sure, with some of the scenes, but the words I see being used are sad. I promise you there is a better way," he wrote.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Irina acknowledges, "I think I a little bit deserved [the backlash]," adding, "I hope people felt the peace they wanted to feel." Over a year since production wrapped, Zack and Bliss are still going strong, per Bliss's Instagram
