The Masked Singer Season 2 Costumes, Guesses, Contestants, And Spoilers

The Masked Singer is one TV show that is an undeniable phenomenon. The series, which is based on a similar show in South Korea, is definitely entertaining, and the format is equal parts competition and guessing game. Really, The Masked Singer has it all. Each celebrity wears an elaborate costume that cover their entire face and body, and takes to the stage to perform some tunes. Then, each week, one of the contestants is eliminated, and only then do they reveal their true identity. In all honesty, it's a pretty bizarre show, but people love it. And sometimes that's all you want from a TV show: to be entertained, distracted, and wowed.

Season 1 of The Masked Singer saw celebrities such as NFL player Antonio Brown, BH90210 star Tori Spelling, NSYNC member Joey Fatone, and artist T-Pain. When Season 1 came to an end, fans of the show immediately started to wonder if the show would be renewed, and, of course, it was! So what can The Masked Singer fans expect from the show? Fortunately, plenty of information about the series has been revealed, and Season 2 and Season 3 sound amazing.

When do episodes of The Masked Singer Season 2 air?

For fans of The Masked Singer, the start time of Season 2 episodes is a very important piece of information. As noted by Fox, Season 2 of the reality television obsession premiered on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019, at 8/7 Central. The show will continue to air every Wednesday at that time for the rest of the season. The Masked Singer Season 1 definitely blew peoples' minds when the winner turned out to be T-Pain, so we can only expect similar surprises from the second season. After all, The Masked Singer has perfected the art of being equal parts mysterious and hilarious, and that's really what makes it such a perfect show.

Obviously, most of the information for the show is kept quiet, as a huge part of the appeal of The Masked Singer is the mystery of it all. Viewers will just have to wait for each episode to learn which singers will remove their own masks and reveal their identities. And most of the time, the judges are just as clueless as the fans are.

The contestants on The Masked Singer Season 2 have a wide range of talents

While many of the contestants on Season 1 of The Masked Singer were big names, there were still a few moments when viewers back home had no idea who the "celebrity" was. For example, for people who aren't into sports, Terry Bradshaw might not mean a lot. However, with the success of the first season, it wouldn't be surprising if Season 2 saw bigger names behind the masks. In fact, Fox teased the fact that the contestants on Season 2 would be pretty impressive.

Specifically, the contestants on The Masked Singer Season 2 are massively talented. Entertainment Tonight reported that Fox shared, "Collectively, all of the season two undercover celebrities have amassed 69 Emmy Award nominations, 42 GRAMMY Award nominations, 22 Broadway shows, three New York Times Best Sellers and two have been named TIME magazine's Most Influential People." Clearly, the second season of the hit series is bringing it when it comes to the celebrities behind the masks, but will it be any easier to guess? Only time can tell, but, whatever the cast, The Masked Singer Season 2 will clearly boast a lot of talent.

Some of The Masked Singer contestants will don wings... but will they soar?

Fortunately, for fans of The Masked Singer, Fox was kind enough to release most of the costumes from Season 2 before the show's actual premiere, though the celebrities behind the masks won't actually be revealed until they're eliminated from the show... unless they win, of course. Regardless, the Season 2 costumes are pretty incredible. As Entertainment Tonight reported, a few stars will don wings.

On Season 2, there will be celebrities dressed as a butterfly, eagle, flamingo, and penguin. Each costume is seriously impressive, intricate, and, well, confusing. It's pretty hard to even tell if the singer is male or female. Before the premiere, Fox hadn't said too much in terms of clues for each masked singer, but there was some information. For instance, in a promo Fox released, the Flamingo said, "I love this mask as much as I love mascara." So, could the singer be a beauty guru of some sort? Or perhaps a celebrity with their own line of mascara? It's anyone's guess, but, clearly, the winged performers are bringing their A-game.

The Masked Singer Season 2 contestants aren't afraid to show their wild sides

In addition to the curious winged creatures on The Masked Singer Season 2, the show will also feature some animal-themed costumes. The second season of the hit reality show will see a fox, leopard, panda, and Rottweiler give it their all on stage, showing off their wild sides! In a promo, the Fox told the camera, "This superhero is ready to devour the competition." Could that mean the celebrity behind the fox mask is an actor from a superhero franchise? Chris Pratt, anyone? Okay, Pratt probably doesn't have a lot of time to star on a reality television show, but still, fans can dream!

Additionally, the leopard gave a pretty big clue as to their identity in a promo, saying, "I've been spotted with the president." Considering that the president used to have a reality show, this contestant could really be anyone who was on Celebrity Apprentice, so fans are particularly eager to learn who was rocking the feline costume.

Nature will play a part in The Masked Singer Season 2

Some The Masked Singer Season 2 promos teased quite a few costumes that seem to be inspired by Mother Nature. Set to make their debut on The Masked Singer are a tree, a flower, a ladybug, and a black widow spider. Oh my! Clearly, those contestants want viewers to be truly confused when they watch the show.

Perhaps the most enticing costume, however, is the black widow, who definitely enjoyed dressing up. "I'm here to crawl my way to the top and spin a web around the competition," the black widow contestant said in one promo. "You can guess my identity all you want, but I'm going to leave you hanging by a thread until the very end." So much intrigue! The black widow didn't even give a subtle hint at their identity, so they might just be the toughest costume to guess, and might end up winning the whole thing! While it isn't exactly obvious who this contestant is, it's clear that they aren't going to give away their identity too easily. And honestly, that's what the show is all about!

The Masked Singer Season 2 will show off some unusual costumes

Though The Masked Singer Season 2 definitely has a lot of creatures and animals taking to the stage, there are also a few pretty random costumes. For instance, as noted by Entertainment Tonight, Season 2 of the show features people dressed as an egg, an ice cream cone, a skeleton, and a literal thingamajig. The thingamajig in particular definitely appears to be the most confusing costume, something the contestant donning the getup is well aware of. "I will tower over the rest of the singers with my puzzling persona," the thingamajig said in a promo for Season 2.

Truly, the contestants in Season 2 are on a whole new level, and uncovering their identity will likely be the most exciting thing on television. That isn't to say that their performances won't be fun to watch, but the best part of The Masked Singer is when the masks come off.

The Masked Singer Season 2 judges look familiar

On The Masked Singer Season 1, viewers fell in love with the hilarious panel of famous judges: Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, and Robin Thicke. All four must have enjoyed their time on the show because they're all on The Masked Singer Season 2 as well. Additionally, Nick Cannon is once again the host again in Season 2, so the dynamic between the judges and host on the second season of the show will be on point.

Interestingly enough, while The Masked Singer has taken America by storm, before the show aired, a certain judge almost didn't sign on. In an interview with Page Six, McCarthy explained that her agents almost persuaded her not to take it. "They were like, 'Listen, there's a couple shows you have offers for, but this one is a definite pass,'" she shared. "And I said, 'Well let me see it!' And they're like, 'You're going to hate it.'" Obviously, her agents were wrong, and McCarthy is now part of what makes The Masked Singer so entertaining. Well, McCarthy, her fellow judges, and all the celebrities who aren't afraid to have a little fun in their elaborate costumes.

The Masked Singer Season 2 will have guest judges

While fans of The Masked Singer are certainly thrilled that the original panel of judges are back for Season 2, that doesn't mean the show is going to be anything short of surprising. Obviously, the contestants are the true stars of the show and their costumes take center stage, but, on Season 2, there are a couple of guest judges who are bringing their own brand of star power with them.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Anthony Anderson and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog are both set to appear on The Masked Singer Season 2 as guest judges, and the winner of Season 1, T-Pain, will also be a guest judge during the season. Joel McHale will also return as a guest judge. Clearly, Fox isn't playing around when it comes to making The Masked Singer as entertaining as possible, as both Anderson and Triumph are known for being hilarious and they'll fit right in with the rest of the judges.

Social media is abuzz with guesses for The Masked Singer Season 2 contestants

Since the costumes for The Masked Singer Season 2 were announced, fans have taken to social media to discuss the outfits and just who they thought was under each mask. One Twitter user wrote, "Can't wait for The Masked Singer season 2 to start." The Twitter user guessed that Katy Perry could be the Flamingo, given her mascara line, Thingamajig could potentially be Star Wars' Harrison Ford, and the Leopard might just be Ivana Trump, Omarosa Manigault, or Monica Lewinsky. As for the penguin? The Twitter user guessed Vanilla ice.

Additionally, Country Living reported that many fans were taking to YouTube to guess who were in the costumes for Season 2. Per the magazine, most commenters seemed to think that the egg is Neil Patrick Harris (spoiler: they were wrong), and there seems to be a general consensus that the eagle is Alice Cooper, Bruce Springsteen, or Adam Levine. Honestly, it's anyone's guess! As the show airs, viewers will be able to get a better glimpse into the contestants' various personalities and watch their performances, so the guesses are sure to get more and more accurate as time goes on.

The Masked Singer Season 1 didn't get great reviews, but people can't stop watching

Now, it's no surprise that a show centered on B-list celebrities dressed in elaborate costumes performing songs and dances in front of a panel of other B-list celebrities wouldn't exactly be thought-provoking television. However, the reviews of Season 1 of The Masked Singer were truly not so great. On IMDb, the show got 6.3 out of 10 stars, and, on Rotten Tomatoes, the show got a score of 52 percent by critics, which is definitely on the lower side. But just because The Masked Singer isn't a critically acclaimed show, that doesn't mean it isn't loved and appreciated by those who watch it.

Seriously, Season 1 of The Masked Singer was actually a total smash hit. In fact, according to TheWrap, the Season 1 finale of the show secured 11.4 million viewers, which is no small feat. Even the episode recap of Season 1 reportedly raked in 8.6 million viewers. Clearly, the show knows what it's doing, and people can't stop watching. Sure, it might not discover America's next greatest singer or dancer, but it's entertaining as heck, and the numbers speak for themselves.

The Masked Singer Season 3 start date has already been confirmed

Season 1 of The Masked Singer was such a hit among viewers that Fox renewed the series for two more seasons before the second season even premiered. That's right, The Masked Singer Season 3 has already been confirmed, according to Deadline. You know that that means! More celebrities in ridiculous costumes, showcasing their talents on stage in front of the entire nation as viewers and judges alike try to guess who is who.

The show is certainly unique, and that's definitely what drew viewers in in the first place. The Masked Singer Season 3 already has a premiere date, and viewers can tune in to the highly anticipated return of the show right after the Super Bowl on Feb. 2, 2020, as noted by Deadline. That's right! You won't even have to get up off the couch after watching the Super Bowl because Season 3 of The Masked Singer will air immediately following the big event. After its season premiere, The Masked Singer Season 3 will go back to Wednesday nights with its second episode airing Wednesday, Feb. 5 at  8/7 Central.

The Egg on The Masked Singer Season 2 turned out to be a famous Olympic athlete

On the season premiere of The Masked Singer Season 2, two contestants were eliminated and therefore revealed. The first was the Egg, who lost a singing battle and took their mask off to reveal they were none other than Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir.

While he may not have won Season 2 of The Masked Singer, Weir still had the time of his life on the show. "The thing that I think is so special about The Masked Singer is that there is a hero for everyone," Weir said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. "You get the people, like me, who aren't singers, that just want to live out that pop star dream that they had when they were kids and get on stage and sing, but you get to be anonymous behind a mask and nobody is going to judge you and say, 'Oh my gosh, Johnny Weir wants to be a singer.'" Clearly, he had a great time, even if he didn't take home the big trophy.

The Ice Cream cone in The Masked Singer Season 2 surprised everyone

While the Ice Cream Cone certainly looked delicious on The Masked Singer Season 2, the contestant wasn't able to beat out the competition and was eliminated during the season premiere. And when the mask came off, viewers at home were shocked to learn that the Ice Cream Cone was actually Tyler "Ninja" Blevins, a professional gamer who streams himself playing video games like Fortnite on YouTube.

And even though Blevins enjoyed his time on The Masked Singer, he told Entertainment Weekly that he was pretty nervous going into it. "We love the show and we really liked season 1," he said. "But I don't sing in front of people! I told my wife the second we got it that I'd do it because I knew she loves it so much, but a week later I was officially, okay I'll do it. I committed mentally." It doesn't matter that Blevins didn't win because he still loved being on the show. And as for who he thinks will win, he told Entertainment Weekly that his money was on the Rottweiler.
