Is Lacey Chabert Still In Touch With Mean Girls Co-Star Lindsay Lohan?

The Plastics were teen royalty but, by the end of Mean Girls, their squad had disbanded for good, leaving Gretchen Weiners to find a new queen bee to serve. In reality, actress Lacey Chabert isn't worshiping at anybody's feet, but surely she remains in contact with her popular clique buddies, right?

With all the talk of rebooting beloved properties, it was only a matter of time before the conversation turned towards Mean Girls, and really, reuniting a cast who has stayed in contact over the 15 years since the movie was released would be significantly easier than bringing together a group who can't stand each other.

She'd love to revisit Gretchen Weiners

Chabert recently stopped by Fox 5, where she was naturally asked about her most famous role and whether she would agree to come back for another film. "Gretchen is one of my favorite characters I've ever had the opportunity to play," she gushed. "Of course I would [revisit her]."

Chabert even suggested the idea of returning to The Plastics nowadays, more than a decade after their dramatic high school experience, to see how things have changed for them. "I think to revisit where those women are in their lives now would be really fun," Chabert enthused (she hilariously told Entertainment Weekly that, these days, "Gretchen is probably running the Toaster Strudel empire").

However, she isn't sure a remake is ever actually going to happen, admitting, "I don't know. I wish I had an answer for you. I feel like you need to start a petition."

It's worth noting Lindsay Lohan told Variety earlier this year that she's dying to do a Mean Girls sequel. "If anyone has asked for this more than I have, please tell me. I've said it so many times, and so many people have asked me, and I think we'd have so much fun doing it," she said.

Lacey Chabert is still close with at least one cast member

The cast reunited earlier this month to raise money for the Thirst Project (on October 3, natch), spearheaded by Jonathan Bennett, who played Aaron Samuels in the hit movie. They also previously joined forces to raise funds for victims of the Las Vegas shooting. Even Lohan herself got in on the action.

When questioned by Fox 5 about whether she keeps in touch with the Lohan, Chabert revealed, "I haven't talked to her in forever." However, there's no drama between the two, with the Mean Girls star explaining, "I hope she's doing awesome. I know she is." They basically grew up together, as child actors in New York, so Chabert admitted, "I've always loved Lindsay."

As for whether she stays  in contact with her other co-stars, the one time Gretchen Weiners confirmed she talks to Mean Girls scribe Tina Fey "on occasion," noting, "Our paths do continue to cross, which is really nice."
