What Michelle Duggar Really Thinks Of Jinger Wearing Pants

On a recent episode of Counting On, Jinger Duggar chatted about her decision to begin wearing pants (via OK Magazine). For many, this is no big deal, but for a Duggar, it's huge. Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar raise their daughters to only wear long skirts and dresses, but Jinger, who is 25, has decided to stray from her family's values in this regard.

In their 2014 book, Growing up Duggar, the siblings explained that their choice of dress code has to do with their religious values. "We do not dress modestly because we are ashamed of the body God has given us; quite the contrary. We realize that our body is a special gift from God and that He intends for it to be shared only with our future husband," the sisters wrote (via InTouch Weekly).

Michelle Duggar's response may shock you

In the episode, Jinger and her husband Jeremy Vuolo take a hike to the Hollywood sign where a producer noticed she was wearing pants. "I chose to wear pants for the hike. We were gonna be going down some steep hills and so I thought it would be best to wear pants," explained Jinger.

It may come as a shock but Michelle Duggar isn't too upset about her daughters choice. "We had conversations before I started wearing pants and just shared my heart with them and where I saw the Lord leading me," Jinger said. She explains that her parents taught the children to "maintain modesty" and that's all that matters.

Michelle, surprisingly, agrees, saying, "It's okay that my kids may have different convictions than me. I know that he's leading them and that's the most important thing — their walk, their relationship with God. And they really love the Lord. And I can honestly say I can have no greater joy" (via Cheat Sheet).

Jinger isn't the only Duggar to challenge the dress code

Michelle's choice to wear ankle-length skirts came after she was saved at the age of 15. Once she began having children, she raised them the same way. "I think that part of it was more of, you know, mama's the mama and I'm raising my girls to be modest and honor the Lord and how they represent themselves," she says (via In Touch Weekly).

Jinger isn't the only child breaking some fashion rules, either. Jessa, Jill, and Joy have all been spotted wearing pants. But even though the Duggar gals are sporting pants, you'll probably never see them in anything low cut or too short. They are Duggars, after all.
