The Real Reason Denise Richards Has Sworn Off Botox

Actress turned Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Denise Richards is going au naturel. While launching her new skincare line, CBMe, the fan favorite, known for her laid-back approach and no-nonsense attitude, is encouraging women of a certain age to forego surgical aides in favor of simply taking better care of their skin, so they can shine from the inside out.

The 49-year-old admits to indulging in a bit of Botox back in the day but swears she's putting her best face forward as she launches a line of products. The natural products range from a probiotic cleanser, to advanced eye therapy, to a cream-oil moisturizer, a mineral sunscreen, and a neck and decollete treatment, and are designed to make women feel confident enough in their own skin that they don't feel the need to go under the knife.

Denise Richards is focused on good skincare

As Richards explained in an interview with Us Weekly, "I don't do Botox and fillers and I've always wanted to keep things as natural as possible. I move my face a lot, so I wanted to do that." The actress and reality star admitted that she tried Botox before, but she didn't like the way her face felt after the treatment. Although Richards loved how rested she looked, she didn't like the sensation in her facial muscles. "It made me feel like someone was pushing my forehead down or something," she elaborated.

The straight-talking RHOBH star also took issue with those who claimed she had fillers done due to weight gain, noting it was a thyroid issue, and nothing more. Richards did acknowledge, however, "I'm a human being too. It is hurtful. People are just so critical." Richards' sensitivity to others' remarks makes her decision to be naturally herself even more commendable.

Denise Richards' daily routine inspired her skincare line

Richards has been modeling since she was a teenager, and a good skincare regimen was paramount to getting work. "I kept my face out of the sun. I was always one that drank a lot of water and my skin's a bit sensitive. So for me, less was always better," she explained of the philosophy surrounding her new collection of anti-aging skincare products, as well as her own lifestyle.

As she told Refinery29, "I focus on a great skin-care regime. It's something I've always been passionate about, so I was very excited about the opportunity to make my own line." Rather than simply putting her name on something, Richards was heavily involved in the process, noting she previously mixed moisturizer and oil together herself, resulting in the CBMe Cream Oil Moisturizer.  As the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star notes simply, "My whole skin routine is my line — and I love that."
