Bindi Irwin's Relationship With Daughter Grace Mirrors Her Bond With 'Superhuman' Mom Terri

In the wild, animals are born with a natural maternal instinct, but in the human world, we often turn to our own mothers to learn how to care for our young. Luckily for Bindi Irwin, she has one of the greatest examples: her mom, Terri Irwin! Bindi and her brother, Robert Irwin, grew up in the public eye and were raised solely by their mother after their dad, Steve Irwin, tragically died in 2006. She added, "I truly believe that she is superhuman and if I can be even half the amazing mama she is, I'll be on a win." Because of how much Bindi appreciates her mom — especially the way Terri has always been so loving and supportive — Bindi has intentionally tried to do the same for her daughter. In the interview, she said, "I'll be grateful for that forever and I want Grace to feel loved and supported the same way throughout her life."

While Bindi Irwin is focused on loving and raising her daughter, Grace, she is also learning a lot from her little girl. In a February 2026, interview with Parents, the wildlife conservationist revealed that her daughter has taught her a lot about self-confidence. "Grace has reminded me of the importance of embracing who you are, letting your personality shine, and being completely unapologetic about it," Bindi told the outlet. She added, "She's a wonderful example of what it means to cherish every minute of every day."

Admiring her daughter is another thing Bindi learned from her mom, Terri Irwin. After all, Terri often lauds her daughter's wonderful qualities, too. On International Women's Day on March 7, 2026, Terri wrote a heartfelt tribute to her daughter on Instagram. "Celebrating the most incredible woman I know," Terri praised. "Wonderful daughter, loving mother, and courageous leader. Bindi demonstrates every day that kindness is wisdom." And on Bindi's 26th birthday on July 24, 2024, Terri wrote on Instagram, "You have brightened my every day with your ability to see the best in everyone and everything. Even in the most challenging times, you forge ahead with courage and optimism."

The way the Irwin women talk about each other is truly so beautiful to witness. They clearly love and admire each other, recognize their strengths, and build each other up often — and that's reflected both in Bindi's relationship with her mom and with her daughter.
