Family Affair: These Celeb Sons & Daughters Were The Real Red Carpet Standouts At 2026 Emmys

The fall awards season kicked off on September 14, 2026, with the annual Primetime Emmy Awards. TV lovers viewed the broadcast on NBC and Peacock, hoping for their favorite shows and actors to win. The evening was full of record-breaking triumphs (Matthew Rhys became the first actor ever to win all three lead acting awards, two of which he won that night), surprising cameos (Taylor Swift and her cat!), tear-jerking moments (homages to Dolly Parton, Catherine O'Hara, and other stars who passed away this year), and some big Emmys fashion flops (Meg Stalter, they told you to dress for the Emmys, not as the Emmy).

Some of the most winning looks of the night came not only from the actors, but also from the next generation. Many of the nominees were accompanied by their partners and children, ranging in age from teens to young adults. Far from gracing the worst-dressed list, the sons and daughters complemented their parents beautifully. And whether or not the famous parents went home with the statue, they were still winners. How can you possibly lose when you have loved ones next to you in the audience? Here are some of the best parent-kid pairs from the 2026 Emmy Awards.

On "Friends," Phoebe Buffay famously became a gestational carrier for her half-brother's triplets, even though it meant missing Ross' wedding to Emily (no regrets — the marriage was doomed anyway) and having to give up the babies (which was a tougher sacrifice). In real life, Lisa Kudrow is the mom of one son, Julian Murray Stern, who grew up on the "Friends" set and became her costar when he appeared for five episodes of her show "The Comeback." The two turned out in basic black for the ceremony, looking utterly chic.

Mariska Hargitay transformed herself a number of times during the Emmys; as if it weren't nerve-wracking enough to host the show, she was also expected to change outfits at almost every commercial break. But no matter what outfit she wore, she still looked best in the important role of mom of three. The "Law & Order: SVU" star was accompanied by her husband, Peter Hermann, and their children: 20-year-old August Hermann, 15-year-old Amaya Hermann, and 14-year-old Andrew Hermann. Amaya and her mom twinned in stunning red gowns.

Jean Smart had the distinction of taking home her fifth Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series, all for her star turn in "Hacks." Cheering her on was her 18-year-old son Forrest Gilliland, the younger of her two children, and they coordinated their outfits with varying shades of silver. (Older son Connor Gilliland, 36, prefers to stay off the red carpet, but he's been a huge support to his mom since the 2021 death of Richard Gilliland, Smart's husband and the boys' father.) Does it get old watching your mom collect gold statues year after year? Surely not, especially if you can look totally "smart" for the paparazzi.

Sally Field also added to her impressive trophy collection when she won her fourth Emmy at the 2026 ceremony, this one for her role in "Remarkably Bright Creatures." She stunned in a deep blue gown, and by her side — looking equally sharp in a tux — was Sam Greisman, the youngest of her three adult sons. Field publicly supported Sam when he came out as gay, and Sam wrote an essay for People in 2023 about their "incredibly close" bond. "Maybe it's because gay men feel a certain undeniable affection for award-winning actresses," he wrote. "Who knows!"

Future Emmy nominees, take note: Taking kids to the awards ceremony could be your lucky charm. Rhea Seehorn brought home the statue, her first, for her dramatic role in "Pluribus." Her support system consisted of her longtime fiance, Graham Larson, and her stepsons, Gray Larson and McLain Larson. Seehorn and Graham began dating when the boys were young, and she considers herself their third parent. The family were well matched in blacks and reds for the occasion.
