And it's easy to see why this sweet, Christmas-spirit-filled flick is a seasonal favorite. The young boy at the film's center goes by the name of Scout. He, of course, is far from the first character to have this particular name. Yet, watching this character on screen reminds us what a cute name this is and how it always manages to feel new and unique while still being a classic. 

While the "To Kill a Mockingbird" protagonist Scout is a girl, Scout in "A Bramble House Christmas" is a boy, showing that this particular name could work for anyone. Harper Lee's character helped the name gain popularity. In 2025, the name ranked No. 997 for baby girls born in the U.S. and No. 1,400 for boys. While it's clearly less common as a boy's name, "A Bramble House Christmas" proves what a great pick this name can be.

Fans know that "When Calls the Heart" is Hallmark's most popular series. There are quite a few characters on this long-running show who it simply wouldn't be the same without. One of those characters is Rosemary Coulter, played by Hallmark Channel favorite Pascale Hutton. While fans love Rosemary for her personality, we also love her name for many reasons. 

Rosemary certainly makes most people think of the herb the name comes from that has big comfort food energy. It also has "rose" in the name, which adds to its beautiful, simple feel. According to Hallmark's own list of the 25 Top Christmas Movies, the No. 6 slot is filled by the 2014 film, "A Royal Christmas." As the title states, this is a Christmas movie of the royal variety, led by the Queen of Hallmark herself, Lacey Chabert. In this film, Chabert plays Emily, whose mother-in-law-to-be just so happens to be a queen. Hallmark veteran Jane Seymour plays Queen Isadora. And that name is the perfect fit for this character, as well as any other future leaders.

This Greek and Roman name has a few special traits — besides the fact that it sounds pretty. The name is both classic and unique.
