Not Just Olivia Colman: Celebs Over 50 With Gorgeous Long, Gray Hair

Gray hair is gorgeous, and many famous women are increasingly rocking their silver crowns with pride. Many celebrities look stunning with gray hair, and it's so inspiring to see them embrace this natural part of aging. But another trend is popping up that we love even more: celebrity women over 50 who are wearing their hair long! So often, society pressures mature women to chop their hair once they reach a certain age (on top of the pressure to cover up their gray, too), so seeing these celebs rock both gray and long hair is truly beautiful.

Olivia Colman debuted long gray curls at the Zurich Film Festival on September 28, 2026. "The Crown" actor's gorgeous tresses fell long past her shoulders. Since Colman previously had a pixie cut, her stylist, Inanch Emir, helped her create the look with extensions. "We weren't trying to hide her grey hair — we wanted to celebrate it," Emir told InStyle in September 2026, adding that her extensions were a combination of four different shades of gray "to create depth and dimension and to work harmoniously with Olivia's own hair." The result was so incredibly natural-looking and so pretty on her.

Colman's hair is part of a growing trend of celebrity women who are both embracing gray and wearing their hair long at the same time. We are huge fans of women who defy social expectations with their beauty like this — and look so good doing it!

Sarah Jessica Parker looked like an ethereal fairy goddess at the New York City Ballet 2026 Fashion Gala on October 1,where her natural gray hair mixed with blond in a long braid down her back. From the front, her silver strands were on full display pulled away from her face. And in the back, her gray hair looked beautifully blended with blond strands and intertwined with a light pink ribbon that matched her dress. Plus, her hair was a seriously impressive length here, hanging clear past her rear end!

Stacy London has had an iconic white streak in her hair since she was a tween, and as an adult, other gray hairs have joined the ranks. The "What Not to Wear" host is nearing 60, and she posed for pictures on the red carpet at the 79^th annual Tony Awards. At the event, she showed off her long, dark gray hair that went halfway down her back, highlighted by the prominent white streak that frames her face. What an icon!

Lisa Bonet's long locs are always beautiful, but even more so when she embraces her natural gray. "The Cosby Show" actor turned 58 on November 16, 2025, and she often lets her gray hair peek through the brunette. Streep turned 77 on June 22, 2026, but you would never know judging by her healthy-looking hair that's much longer than shoulder length. At "The Devil Wears Prada 2" premiere in April 2026, she wore it in a bouncing ponytail that was curled at the end in a beautiful way. 

Andie MacDowell makes gray hair look downright youthful. "The Way Home" star, who's nearing 70, has hair that falls practically to her bust in various shades of gray. Whether she wears it straight, like at the 79^th annual Cannes Film Festival in May 2026, or curled, which she did at the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation's 51^st annual Gracie Awards the same month, MacDowell's long gray hair is always fabulous.

Going gray doesn't look the same for everyone. For Salma Hayek, it means letting the gray pieces do their thing, without dying them to match the rest of her black hair.
