Nobody does Christmas movies like Hallmark Channel, but in recent years, they've changed the game. Hallmark has been rolling out a slew of sports-centered holiday movies that we are obsessed with, including a new-for-2026 Hallmark movie called "Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story." Hunky guys, beautiful leading ladies, talented athletes, and romantic moves — yep, they are winning with this new sub-genre of holiday films!

Since we love ranking Hallmark's holiday movies so much we decided to bring you the best Hallmark movies featuring sports. We ranked them by reviews from the least popular to most beloved so you can find the movie that resonates with you the most. There are movies about football, hockey, and soccer, as well as winter sports, such as figure skating and dog sledding. Healthy competition, especially during the holiday season, is good for the soul!

Of course, the best part of a Hallmark movie is the romance infused in every storyline. And thankfully, you'll find that in these movies, too. All of the films below follow the playbook, with love stories so good, they each deserve a trophy!

10: Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story

Hallmark Channel's newest iteration of the "Holiday Touchdown" series, "Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story," premieres on October 17, 2026, so it doesn't have ratings on IMDb or Letterboxd yet. The cute story is about a swoon-worthy Chicago firefighter named Matt (Robert Buckley), who falls in love with a reporter, Avery (Lyndsy Fonseca), who's covering the story of Matt's grandma, one of the Chicago Bears' biggest fans set to attend her 500th game.

9. The Christmas Cup

Going home for the holidays wasn't in Staff Sergeant Kelly Brandt's (Rhiannon Fish) plans until a knee injury took her out of service for a while in "The Christmas Cup." So, she rallies by leading her team in the annual Christmas Cup competition with the help of Fire Captain Quinn Stokley (Ben Rosenbaum) in this fun and quirky movie. Despite ranking the lowest on our list, with 5.2 out of 10 on IMDb and 2.5 out of 5 stars on Letterboxd, it's still a fun holiday movie.

8. Christmas in Notting Hill

Head across the pond for "Christmas in Notting Hill," a cute film about a London footballer (read: soccer player) named Graham (William Moseley), who's much too busy for romance. He can't help it when he meets Georgia (Sarah Ramos), though, an American who has no idea the man she just met is famous. The British accents alone make this entry worth watching! This movie ranks 6.1 out of 10 on IMDb and 2.3 out of 5 stars on Letterboxd.

7. Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story

The Kansas City Chiefs make a great backdrop for love — just ask Taylor Swift — and this NFL team is the inspiration behind "Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story," as well. The first film in the "Holiday Touchdown" series stars Hunter King as Alana, who enters a "Fan of the Year" contest for the Chiefs, judged by the team's Director of Fan Engagement, Derrick (Tyler Hynes). Add some drama, romantic sparks, and a dash of holiday magic, and you have a fun Hallmark Christmas movie, which scored 6.4 out of 10 on IMDb, but only a 2.1 out of 5 stars on Letterboxd.

6. Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story

"Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story" is the second installment in the "Holiday Touchdown" series, with the best reviews so far. The Buffalo Bills' vice president of Stadium Development, Gabe (Matthew Daddario), has a crush on long-term friend Morgan (Holland Roden), a pediatrician — and she may finally start to see him in a romantic light after they embark on a quest to uncover a family secret. This movie scored 6.3 out of 10 on IMDb and 2.4 out of 5 stars on Letterboxd.

5. The Finnish Line

Anya (Kim Matula) takes to dog sled racing in honor of her late father, famous in the sport, in "The Finnish Line." She travels to the beautiful Finland to try her hand in the Joulurauha race, where she unexpectedly finds herself partnered with a journalist named Cole (Beau Mirchoff). Dog sledding is no calm sport, making this movie feel more fast-paced than the typical Hallmark fare. "The Finnish Line" scored 6.2 out of 10 on IMDb and 3.1 out of 5 stars on Letterboxd.

4. Love on Ice

Emily (Julie Berman) loves ice skating, but the former figure skating champion has almost aged out of the competition in "Love on Ice" — until the handsome coach, Spencer (Andrew Walker), takes a chance on her, of course, and sees something in Emily beyond her talent. This cool Hallmark movie will warm your heart like it did for so many others. (And having Walker as the lead surely helps!) "Love on Ice" ranked 6.4 out of 10 on IMDb and 3.0 out of 5 stars on Letterboxd.

3. Two for the Win

Fan of winter sports? Then you will love "Two for the Win," about a world champion downhill ski racer Justin (Trevor Donovan) and a local ski instructor Kayla (Charlotte Sullivan). When he comes home to train for a big competition, he ends up spending a lot of time on the ice with Kayla — and things heat up quickly when they realize they have feelings for each other. This movie scored 6.4 out of 10 on IMDb and 3.1 out of 5 stars on Letterboxd.

2. Checkin' It Twice

Before "Heated Rivalry" and "Off Campus," Hallmark Channel dabbled in the hockey romance genre with "Checkin' It Twice," which stars Kevin McGarry as Scott, a hockey player who's traded to a minor league team in Idaho Falls. He ends up moving next door to real estate agent Ashley (Kim Matula). They get to know each other through Christmas events, youth hockey coaching, and other small-town activities in this cute rom-com that scored 6.8 out of 10 on IMDb and 2.7 out of 5 stars on Letterboxd.

1. Taking a Shot at Love

It's easy to see why "Taking a Shot at Love" ranked No. 1 among viewers. This charming holiday movie is about a former professional ballet dancer Jenna (Alexa PenaVega) who teaches an injured hockey player Ryan (Luke Macfarlane) the art of the dance to help him return to the ice. It doesn't get more romantic than that! This movie is so sweet and scored a 7.1 out of 10 on IMDb and 3 out of 5 stars on Letterboxd.

How we determined and ranked sports-centered Hallmark movies

To rank the sports-centered Hallmark movies for this article, we found 10 of the most sports-focused films in the Hallmark universe, where competition is one of the main aspects of the film. We left out movies where sports were only marginally part of the story. We also focused on Christmas movies featuring winter sports only.

From there, we gathered each film's IMDb and Letterboxd rankings, combining them to determine the order. For films that had the exact same rating, we put the film with more reviews higher on the list. That's how we got this cozy, sports-related list of Hallmark holiday films for you to view this season!
