Royal-Inspired Baby Names That Ruled 2026
We'll be honest, it's tempting to name your offspring after a royal. The moniker carries some weight, and it often has an elegant ring to it too. Turns out, many people who became parents in 2026 thought the same thing. This year, some royal-inspired baby names made their way onto BabyCenter's Top 10 list of the most popular baby names, and it's easy to see why. Charlotte landed in fourth place, which shouldn't be all that surprising, given that Prince William and Princess Catherine's daughter bears the name. She's been increasingly making more public appearances with her parents as she grows up, placing new focus on her and how she fits into the monarchy.
Charlotte is the female version of Charles in French, and it's thought that the Prince and Princess of Wales chose this name to honor William's father, King Charles III. Charlotte rolls off the tongue and certainly has an elegant ring to it (not to mention that it means "free" or "army," per The Bump), so it's definitely one of those royal baby names you'll want to steal for your own children. Another moniker associated with the British royal family, which landed at No. 3 this year, is Amelia.
While Lady Amelia Windsor isn't a working member of The Firm, she is still in the royal line of succession (45th, to be exact). However, she's carved out a life apart from the royals, working as an environmental advocate and model. She's the daughter of the lesser-known George Windsor, the Earl of St Andrews (the king's second cousin), and his wife, historian Sylvana Tomaselli. It's easy to see why Amelia is a popular baby name. Not only does it carry some royal weight, but according to The Bump, meanings associated with the name include "bravery," "striving," and "industrious."
Non-British royal names also made a splash in 2026
There are countless tips for choosing the best baby name, but in the end, you should pick one that feels right for you. In 2026, many people really leaned into British royal names, but plenty of others expanded their search and landed on monikers associated with other royal families. Sophia came in at fifth place on BabyCenter's Top 10 list. Though the spelling differs slightly from Princess Sofia, Duchess of Värmland's name, it still sounds the same when you pronounce it. Just like Princess Catherine, Sofia was not born royal, but she fell in love with Prince Carl Philip, Duke of Värmland, and the couple said their "I dos" in 2015. Sophia is a name we're pretty positive won't turn into one of those baby names that will sound ridiculous in 10 years. According to The Bump, it means "wisdom" and "knowledge," and who doesn't want to bestow those attributes on their baby girl?
Last but not least, we have Isabella in sixth place. It's a gorgeous name, and it also happens to belong to Princess Isabella of Denmark, who is second in the line of succession. She's the daughter of King Frederik X and Queen Mary, and after completing her high school education, she enlisted in the military in August 2026, where she will serve for 11 months, becoming the first female member of the Danish royal family to do so. Royal and fierce. Who wouldn't want their child to bear that name? The Bump also noted that the meaning of Isabella is "beautiful" and "My God is an oath." It's regal and timeless, making it a great choice, so it's hardly a surprise it made 2026's top list of baby names.
