Things About Bindi Irwin's Pregnancy You Don't Know

Bindi Irwin — who's undergone a stunning transformation — and Chandler Powell have indeed confirmed they're expecting their first child together. They made the announcement on August 11, 2020, in the most Irwin-appropriate way possible: Irwin posted a photo on Instagram, in which she and Powell are posing in the stunning confines of the Australia Zoo — while holding a mini zookeeper's uniform between them. "Baby Wildlife Warrior due 2021," she wrote in the caption. 

Additionally, although Irwin was only in the first trimester when she made the announcement, the couple couldn't wait to share the news. "This beautiful little being has become the most important part of our lives," Irwin continued. Powell followed up with his own Instagram post, with kind words for his wife. "You're going to be the most amazing mother," he gushed in the caption. The excited expectant father also admitted, "I cannot wait to embark on this new adventure and life chapter." 

The pair was also eager to include fans in their pregnancy journey, with Irwin asking for any advice or tips other parents might have.

Even though Bindi Irwin confirmed in that very first announcement post that she was only in the first trimester of her pregnancy, fans immediately began clamoring to see the conservationist's baby bump. In fact, the tabloids made several attempts to catch Irwin and Chandler Powell on the hop, but her trademark loose khaki getup made it virtually impossible for even the least scrupulous paparazzi to get the money shot. However, that didn't stop fans flooding Irwin's social media with increasingly desperate pleas about when her bump is going to debut.

As Aussie site New Idea noted, in every photo she's posted, both including and after the announcement post, Irwin concealed her tummy either with baggy clothes or by holding cute animals in front of it. One eager follower questioned, "I thought you were pregnant, where's your bump?" while another admitted, "I can't wait to see that baby bump." Thankfully, others jumped to her defense, reminding nosy followers that Irwin will share her bump whenever she sees fit. 

On another note, it probably hadn't shown up yet, as one fan pointed out, because it was too early.

They're already the stars of Animal Planet's lively Crikey! It's the Irwins, which shows how incredibly normal Bindi Irwin's life is. But, with the news of Irwin's pregnancy, the rumor mill went into overdrive. Specifically, people wondered if she and Chandler Powell were about to start their own show that, shockingly, may also take them away from Oz. Sources reportedly close to the couple informed New Idea that they intend to move to the U.S., where Powell is from, to start a new life there. Allegedly, the newlyweds are considering a move either to Powell's home state of Florida, where most of his family still resides, or Santa Barbara, California; the latter is where the Irwin's close family friend, Olivia Newton-John — who has a dark and tragic past — lives. 

Although Irwin's mother is allegedly against the move, and Irwin is reportedly torn about leaving the zoo and her life there behind, New Idea suggests that a million dollar deal is on the line — if the couple to appear as the stars of a reality show, which would follow their lives as new parents.

Although New Idea alleges that things are tense between Bindi Irwin and her mother, due to a rumored impending move stateside, on social media there's nothing but love both from and for the expectant grandparents. When Bindi initially announced the pregnancy, Terri Irwin took to Twitter to gush. "This is the best day ever," she wrote, describing herself as "over the moon" and without the words to express "the love that is filling my heart." Although she admitted to being sad her late husband wasn't around to see it, Terri acknowledged, "I know that he would be so proud."

Terri also retweeted a post from Bindi, confirming simply that she and Powell will be the absolute best parents, to which Bindi responded, "You're going to be the greatest grandmother!"

Bindi also took to Instagram to share her love for all three prospective grandparents. "Our little one is going to be so loved," she wrote in the caption, alongside a shot of herself and her husband with their parents, all happily chilling out on a boat — alongside a grumpy-looking sea turtle (again, animals always come first).

In late September 2020, Bindi Irwin took to Instagram to share another baby update. Posing alongside Chandler Powell, the two of them smiling broadly, with a sonogram photo clutched in his hands and a stunning Aldabra giant tortoise between them chomping on some delicious flowers, the couple shared the sex of their baby. "Baby girl, you are our world," Irwin began her gushing post. In keeping with always tying in her chosen cause, she noted, "Our beautiful daughter is now about the same size as a hatchling Aldabra tortoise and is as healthy as can be." Finally, Irwin added, "We can't wait for her arrival next year."

Powell shared his own gushing post to mark the occasion, reiterating that Irwin and their unborn child are everything to him. "I'm so excited to meet our daughter when she's born next year and to see the incredible person she will grow up to be," he enthused. 

According to the comments section of these posts, fans already have an idea for what Irwin could name her daughter: Stephanie, which can easily be shortened to Stevie, thus honoring Irwin's father's legacy.
