Here's How Tim McGraw And Faith Hill Pulled Off Their Surprise Wedding

Country music's it-couple, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, recently celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary after marrying in October of 1996. Since that year, the pair have welcomed three daughters, each had hit country singles and performed in worldwide tours. Tim McGraw took to Instagram to share a romantic tribute, saying, "24 yrs....... These years have rushed by in a series of beautiful, painful and unexpected moments.... We have loved, laughed and cried through exciting, inspiring and heartbreaking events in our lives together."

Almost a quarter of a century ago, their nuptials involved a surprise ceremony in the middle of their Spontaneous Combustion tour, in which their guests didn't know it was a wedding (via Taste of Country). The country power couple got engaged just a few months prior to their ceremony, as McGraw revealed during a concert in Colorado.

"We were in the dressing room, here, June 26, 1996, and it was raining and stuff and we'd been on tour for a while together, and I joked around with her about getting married," he explained. "And so I said... I looked at her, grabbed her by the hand, and dropped forward [on my knees] onstage. She had already done her show. And I said, 'I'm really serious. I want you to marry me.'" (via Brides). Even though his wife-to-be initially replied, "We're at a country music festival in a trailer house, and you're asking me to marry you?" She later said yes on stage.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's loved ones thought they were headed to a softball game

Perhaps spurred on by the bride's yet-to-be-announced pregnancy, the pair's wedding took place four months after their engagement. Hill was three-months along with daughter, Gracie (via Brides). Guests headed to Rayville, Louisiana to attend what they thought would be a concert and softball game in McGraw's hometown, and were quite surprised to find a wedding venue set up, according to Brides. A bare-footed Faith Hill donned white gloves and pearls for her "I do's" as the couple professed their love for each other underneath an oak tree (via Brides).

McGraw previously discussed falling for each other while on tour with People, saying, "We were young and silly and goo-goo-eyed in love." On the other hand, as parents, the two have stayed committed to connecting as a family and helping their daughters stand strong. "They're very outspoken in their beliefs and what they believe in. They don't tolerate injustice for anybody and they speak up about it. I'm really proud of that," their famous father gushed (via People).

A secret ceremony, three kids, and 24 years later, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw are still the ultimate couple goals.
