Why Rudy Giuliani's Video Upload Has Him In Serious Hot Water

There's nothing like a good video editor, particularly if you have something to say, and are someone of importance who appears on camera regularly. That's probably what President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani is thinking after either he or a carless member of his staff uploaded a video onto YouTube which has him mocking Asians in a racist way.

The moment came after the end of his YouTube show, Rudy Giuliani's Common Sense, which features an interview with Trump's former press secretary Sean Spicer. But instead of ending at the close, the recording continues and Giuliani is caught speaking to conservative YouTuber Jayne Zirkle. He then puts on a nondescript Asian accent, pretending to phone Zirkle, and tells her that she is "going to be the most famous model in China" (via IB Times).

He repeats "Jayne Zirkle, Jayne Zirkle, Jayne Zirkle, ha ha hoo," and adding a bow, before he speaks to another person off camera and the recording ends. The entire show was posted for several hours before it was taken down, but it's still available on The Wrap.

Rudy Giuliani's problems with technology have made headlines before

Rudy Giuliani's tussles with technology have made the news before. Last year, he butt-dialed reporters twice, raising the need for money, and attacking Trump's opponent, Joe Biden (via BBC). And it's been a real tumble for the man who, during the September 11, 2001, World Trade Center attacks, was known as America's Mayor, for bringing New Yorkers together at a time when they were scared and grieving (via The Atlantic). And it is that impression that saddened this Twitter user, who posted: "Rudy should've retired long ago with his legend secured as America's Mayor after 9/11, even though it was Bloomberg who was responsible for the economic and cultural revival afterwards. Much like Narcissus he loved his image too much, and no one has told him he's drowning yet."

Another Twitter user talked about how staff in the audio seemed to take his comment in stride commenting, "The beauty part is how completely they're ignoring him. They're not playing along the way you would with a powerful person you don't want to cross. They're just talking past him like he's the crazy racist uncle who it's just easier to tune out."
