Jill Duggar Dillard Reveals What She'd Do If Her Child Came Out As LGBTQ

Jill Duggar Dillard may be distancing herself from the notoriously conservative Duggar family, but that doesn't mean that she has completely abandoned all of their beliefs. Jill opened up about breaking away from the Duggar family lifestyle video in a YouTube video with her husband, Derrick Dillard. In many ways, Jill is a bit of a rebel, and has gotten a nose ring, wears pants, uses non-hormonal birth control, and has even admitted to having the occasional alcoholic beverage — all forbidden by the Duggar family rules.

Jill is still quite conservative, though, as she made very clear in a recent interview with People. When asked by the outlet how she and Derick would react if one of their kids came out as gay or transgender, Jill shared what she and Derick think of the LGBTQ+ community.

"As far as our views on the LGBTQ+ community, we do hold to our faith that that lifestyle is not condoned, and we believe it to be a sinful thing," said the former Counting On star (via Ashley's Reality Roundup).

Jill went on to say that she and Derick have LGBTQ friends. "Just because we don't agree with someone or their lifestyle doesn't mean that we can't be friends," she said.

Jill implied that if one of her kids were to come out, they would not be able to freely express themselves at home. "We would of course love our kids just the same but couldn't condone their lifestyle," she said. "But if they are an adult and not under our roof, then they could make their own decisions."

When asked what she and Derick would do if one of their kids came out while still living at home, Jill refused to give a firm answer. "We realize that change is usually hard, and we wouldn't expect a changing relationship with our children to be any easier, but we hope that we'd both be able to acknowledge that too and still love each other," she said.
