The Truth About Scarlett Johansson's Husband

Yesterday, it was revealed that Scarlett Johansson and SNL writer Colin Jost are officially married. The news broke in a somewhat unconventional way — via an Instagram post shared by Meals on Wheels America, showing a photo of the Staten Island Ferry with cans tied to it and "Jost Married" written at the top. Meals on Wheels America stated that the pair were wed in an "intimate ceremony with their immediate family and loved ones, following COVID-19 safety precautions as directed by the CDC." The post continued by encouraging people to donate to the organization, which provides meals to vulnerable older adults.

This is the first time Jost has been married, though Johansson has had two former husbands: actor Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011 and journalist Romain Dauriac from 2014 to 2017, with whom she also shares a daughter, Rose Dorothy Dauriac (via People).

Though the pair has only been dating for three years, they have a long history that began at Jost's workplace, NBC's Saturday Night Live.

Colin Jost has worked at SNL since 2005

Though Johansson told The Hollywood Reporter that she met Jost in 2010, while appearing in one of his sketches on SNL, Jost revealed to Entertainment Tonight that they actually met back in 2006 when Johansson was hosting the show for the first time. Since then, the 35-year-old actress has hosted the live sketch comedy show five more times and Jost has gained a spot as a host of SNL's "Weekend Update" segment.

In May of 2017, Life & Style reported that fellow SNL star Kate McKinnon had set up Johansson and Jost on a date. That same month, the pair were seen arriving at the SNL cast party together and according to Page Six, "made out at least twice" during the event. It's safe to say that their shared sense of humor ignited Johansson and Jost's initial bond. In May of 2019, a source told People: "Scarlett likes Colin's sarcasm and wit. They share a love for acerbic humor and outrage at social issues gone bad. They have much in common."

Colin Jost is a romantic at heart, according to Scarlett Johansson

After their engagement in 2019, Johansson divulged the super romantic way Jost popped the question. In an interview on The Ellen Degeneres Show, shared: "He's very charming. It was very personal. It was a very special moment and I think more than anything, when someone tells you they want to share the rest of their life with you, it's a lovely, special thing."

Six months later, during her closing monologue while hosting SNL yet again, Johansson thanked the cast and crew, adding a special remark just for Jost. "I just want to say that this place means so much to me. I have so many friends here and I met the love of my life here," she said before giving Jost a kiss.

On the Emmys red carpet in 2017, Jost gushed to Entertainment Tonight about Johansson, saying: "She's wonderful. She's working, so otherwise, she'd be here. She's pretty cool ... It's hard to have a lot of complaints, she's pretty awesome."

Clearly, these two have something special, and not even a pandemic can get in the way of their love.
