Here's Who The Drag Queens From Happiest Season Really Are

We all have our favorite Christmas classics that we watch every year during the holidays: Elf, Home Alone, Christmas Vacation — you know the drill. But if you ask us, it might be time to expand that list a bit and add something new and fresh to our holiday watch list. Well, Happiest Season might be exactly what the doctor ordered.

Chances are you've heard about Kristen Stewart's new Christmas film, Happiest Season. It's caused quite a commotion within the Christmas community and it seems like everyone is talking about it. Critics are calling it the "queer Christmas film we've been waiting for" (via The Independent) and we couldn't agree more. While the genre of a Christmas rom-com is by no means a new one, Happiest Season is rebellious by its mere existence; its decision to star a lesbian leading couple as well as several famously queer actors has been monumentally significant to the gay community, as well as just an objectively enjoyable film (via The LA Times). Indeed, the film pushes the envelope even further by including something alongside the Yuletide joy that has become a queer film staple: drag queens.

You might know the film's guest drag queens from RuPaul's Drag Race

So who are the drag queens in question? For those of you familiar with the drag community or are simply obsessed with RuPaul's Drag Race, presumably we needn't explain; but if this is all new information to you, let us explain. Guest starring alongside K-Stew are Drag Race icons BenDeLaCreme and Jinkx Monsoon, who are some of the most beloved and well-known queens within the drag community

This iconic duo is no stranger to the world of Christmas entertainment, as they've appeared side-by-side in various Christmas shows, perhaps most famously being The Jinkx and Dela Holiday Special. In addition, they're friends with Happiest Season director Clea DuVall, who was even a guest judge on Drag Race.

"The first time I met Clea was actually backstage at our Christmas show two years ago. She came to see the show!" DeLa explains. According to Entertainment Weekly, DuVall later approached the queens with roles in the feature she created specifically for them. "She approached it having seen how Jinkx and I handled Christmas on stage, and wanted to incorporate that, which was an honor!"
