The Jaw-Dropping Amount Of Money Kelly Clarkson's Ex Is Asking For In Child Support

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock seemed to be the perfect couple. They appeared to have a lot in common, both being in the entertainment industry and being in the music royalty realm. For her part, Clarkson has sold more than 13 million albums in the U.S. and has had a slew of number one hits like "My Life Would Suck Without You," according to Forbes. And Blackstock is a music manager who grew up with country legend Reba McEntire as his stepmom, per Good Housekeeping

However, even with these strong similarities something went wrong. The singer recently filed for divorce after seven years together and it's gotten a bit messy. E! News reports Clarkson won temporary primary physical custody of their children on Nov. 19, 2020. The pair share two children: River Rose, 6, and Remington Alexander, 4. But now Blackstock is asking for $436,000 a month in child and spousal support from the songstress.

The Voice judge recently discussed this difficult time during her show. "It's horrible," she said (via E! News). "There are so many hard parts, and the hardest for me is the kids. That's the hardest part for me." Clarkson added that as a woman she's been trained to deal with everything and be okay, but it's her children she worries about.

The couple initially had a plan in place on how to co-parent, but things took a turn for the worse and the court had to step in. People reported that court documents stated that "the level of conflict between the parents had increased. The parties have a difficult time co-parenting due to issues of trust between them."

Clarkson currently lives in Los Angeles, where she hosts the Kelly Clarkson Show and The Voice. Her children also attend school in the area. The American Idol winner said Blackstock, who resides in Montana, can visit the children in L.A.
