How Braunwyn Windham-Burke's Husband Really Feels About Her Big News

Real Housewives of Orange County cast member Braunwyn Windham-Burke made history by telling GLAAD her big news yesterday: she's officially the first lesbian housewife across all of the franchises.

In her interview with GLAAD, Windham-Burke revealed her announcement as well as her new girlfriend, and an update on her marriage. Of her sexuality, the reality star said, "I like women. I'm gay. I'm a member of the LGBTQ+ community. It has taken me 42 years to say that but I am so proud of where I am right now. I'm so happy where I am. To be able to be comfortable in my own skin after so long is just so nice," People reports.

In the interview, the housewife revealed that she first started to come to terms with her identity after her kiss with co-star Tamra Judge last season. "I had a scene with Tamra that everyone kind of talked about," she said. "When we were getting ready for the reunion I was talking to a producer that I trust a lot, his name was James, and he said, 'How do you feel about this? Was it a drunken mistake or is this a part of who you are?' And I said, 'This is who I am.'"

This season, Windham-Burke has also revealed that she had been struggling with alcoholism for years. As she got sober, she began to explore her sexuality further, the outlet notes. "I met someone that I was interested in pursuing a relationship with. It became something that I didn't want to hide anymore," she explained.

Braunwyn Windham-Burke is still married to her husband, Sean

Despite the big shifts in her life, Windham-Burke can still count on her husband's unwavering support. According to Today, the pair have been married for over 20 years and share seven children together with ages ranging from two years to 20. Despite her announcement, the reality star has no plans to divorce her husband of nearly two decades. "I love Sean. I love him dearly, he is my person, he is my family. But I'm not attracted to men and I never have been," she said.

She revealed that she moved back into the home that they share together and, while they don't share a bed, they are co-parenting together and making it work, People notes. As for Sean's reaction, he took to Instagram to share a message of support. Following the airing of an episode where the couple renewed their vows, the Instagram story read, "I love you. I'm proud of you. And I support you. Always" with a photo of the pair.

According to Page Six, as she dates other people, her husband is able to do the same. The outlet also reports that he is considering a new job in New York. With photos of Windham-Burke and her new girlfriend made public, the family is making it work and sticking together as one.
