Trump Reveals Rudy Giuliani's Positive COVID-19 Diagnosis
Considering the much-criticized way the President and his administration have handled and behaved during the COVID-19 pandemic, Trump's recent tweet breaking the news of Rudy Giuliani's positive diagnosis may not come as a huge surprise. Trump wrote on Sunday, "@RudyGiuliani, by far the greatest mayor in the history of NYC, and who has been working tirelessly exposing the most corrupt election (by far!) in the history of the USA, has tested positive for the [coronavirus]. Get better soon Rudy, we will carry on!!!"
NBC reports Giuliani, Donald Trump's personal lawyer, has been traveling across the country over the last week, supporting Trump's unsubstantiated claims of election fraud and leading the battle to overturn Joe Biden's victory. Just days ago, Giuliani was seen without a mask on, meeting with the Senate Judiciary committee in Georgia. According to CNBC, the 76-year-old is in a high-risk group for the virus although there is no word yet on whether he is experiencing any symptoms.

Rudy Giuliani's positive COVID-19 diagnosis comes just weeks after his son, Andrew Giuliani, announced his own positive status via Twitter. Andrew works in the White House as a special assistant to President Trump (per The New York Times), and has been attending meetings alongside Trump's legal team. Newsweek reported Trump's campaign lawyer, Jenna Ellis, stated Andrew Giuliani may have exposed members of the legal team, including his father, to the virus prior to his diagnosis.
CNBC confirms that at least 52 people with ties to the White House have now tested positive for COVID-19. In addition to President Trump and members of his immediate family, the list includes several senior advisors and the President's chief of staff. However, this string of positive cases hasn't seemed to deter the White House from hosting large gatherings, against the CDC's recommendation to avoid them. NBC reports the White House hosted an event on December 1 where several attendees were seen not wearing masks. There are reportedly another 20 similar events planned for the upcoming holiday season.
