The Truth About Elizabeth Olsen's Relationship With Robbie Arnett

While you may know Elizabeth Olsen as the younger sister of the Olsen twins, chances are you also know her from her own work. After starring in a series of independent films, Olsen shot to superstardom with her role as Wanda/Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her 2021 Disney+ Marvel series, "WandaVision," was a huge success

Even though Olsen is one of Hollywood's biggest stars, she tends to keep her private life private. As Vanity Fair noted, she's been incredibly successful at keeping herself under the radar. However, as big Olsen fans may already know, the actress is actually in a long-term relationship with musician Robbie Arnett; in fact, in 2019, the couple got engaged (via People). But since Olsen is so private, not much is known about the pair's relationship. Curious to find out more about this couple? Here is the truth about Elizabeth Olsen's relationship with Robbie Arnett.

Then, in September of 2017, as E! News reported, Olsen and Arnett appeared together at the Gershwin Emmy Party in Los Angeles. As the Daily Mail shared at the time, the couple were seen arm in arm looking very much "in love" at the party. Fans were excited to see this pair finally feeling comfortable heading out to events as a couple.

Elizabeth Olsen is a big fan of Robbie Arnett's music

Elizabeth Olsen's partner, Robbie Arnett has a creative career: he's one-fourth of the indie-pop band Milo Greene. And as it turns out, Olsen is a pretty big fan of his music. In an interview on the radio show Sway in the Morning in August 2017, she gave his band a shout out. When asked about her favorite music, she said proudly, "My boyfriend's in a cool band called Milo Greene." When asked, "Did you just shamelessly plug your boyfriend's band?" she replied, "Yes I did, because I really like 'em!" She added coyly, "And I really like him!"

Olsen went on to explain that she'd initially started to like Arnett after hearing his music. "I'm a groupie, yay!" she joked. The interviewer then played some of the band's music as Olsen looked increasingly embarrassed. She confessed, "I'm seriously sweating, he's going to be so embarrassed."

They have taken some lavish trips together

As Elizabeth Olsen and Robbie Arnett's relationship got more serious, they took a trip together to Italy. At the time, Olsen posted several images on her since-deleted Instagram account. In one picture, the couple were seen grinning during a festival in Siena. Another set of photos saw the couple at a romantic Italian dinner party.

As Metro reported, the trip took place in the summer of 2018. At the time, Olsen also posted a collage made of adorable, intimate Polaroids from the trip, which she captioned with the couple emoji. The photos showed the couple hanging out in a luxurious pool surrounded by palm trees.

The couple didn't spend the entire trip on their own, either, as they actually attended a weekend celebration hosted by designer Rosetta Getty in Tuscany. Then, in 2019, Olsen and Arnett took another trip, this time to Mallorca in Spain. The pair were seen on a private boat ride, relaxing and enjoying the views (via Daily Mail). While Elizabeth Olsen and Robbie Arnett do spend some of their time taking luxurious holidays, they've also spent some time traveling for charity work. As Olsen told InStyle, she'd happened to meet the founders of a charity called The Latitude Project when she traveled to Nicaragua in 2014. "The Tynanas were working with impoverished local communities that needed infrastructure support," she explained. After that, Olsen ended up volunteering, and in 2016, she went on her second trip with The Latitude Project.

Once Olsen met Arnett, she apparently enlisted him in her charity work as well. The pair were featured in a 2018 Instagram post by The Latitude Project; the foundation posted an image of the couple installing water filters on a "recent trip." The foundation also congratulated Arnett on his band's new album in their post and wrote, "To be extremely musically talented is one thing but match that with being a damn good human and you've got a winner."

In an interview posted on Facebook, Olsen and Arnett spoke about their experiences. "It was my first trip to Nicaragua," Arnett said. "And it was ... something I'll never forget."

The two moved in together in 2018

About one year after their first meeting, Elizabeth Olsen and Robbie Arnett took the huge step of moving in together in early 2018. Olsen gave James Corden some details about life with Arnett on "The Late Late Show." She explained that she and Arnett had moved into her house in Los Angeles a few months earlier. However, the musician had decided to keep his old apartment and sublease it. After he moved in, they decided to move his old mattress into their new place for the guest bedroom. Corden even showed an adorable photo of Olsen posing on the mattress in the moving van.

Actor David Tennant, who was also a guest on the show, joked, "Now there's no going back, that's it." Olsen replied with a devilish grin, "That's my plan." How cute! As Corden noted, the move signifies a "big commitment" in the relationship. It's clear that Olsen is thrilled to have him there. Plus, she got to keep his old mattress for her guest bedroom!

Elizabeth Olsen and Robbie Arnett got engaged in 2019

Moving in with a romantic partner is one thing, but getting engaged is a real sign of commitment. The news of their engagement broke in July of 2019, courtesy of an unnamed source who told People of the development.

Shortly after word of the engagement was out of the bag, Olsen appeared in public with her brand new engagement ring; the first sighting of the ring came when Olsen was grocery shopping in Los Angeles. The ring is, unsurprisingly, chic, understated, and totally gorgeous. As the Daily Mail reported, the ring features a bright emerald stone surrounded by tiny diamonds.

It's unknown how exactly Arnett popped the question, as he and Olsen are a pretty private pair.

They seem to lead a super laid-back lifestyle

The couple quarantined together and seemed to have plenty of fun

Since Elizabeth Olsen and Robbie Arnett moved in together in 2018, it comes as no surprise that they spent their COVID-19 lockdown together. However, for this couple, all the extra time together didn't seem to be a problem. As Olsen told Parade at the time, "I don't have kids; I have a responsibility to my family, and that's it ... so, it was a really lovely time to be OK with doing nothing."

And by the looks of things, Elizabeth Olsen and Robbie Arnett had plenty of fun during lockdown, making silly videos together for Olsen's Instagram account (which has since been deleted). In one video, the couple stare into the camera while driving and lip syncing to an old Christmas song. In another video, Olsen pretends to be modeling a primer before the camera pans to Arnett playing the background music on his guitar. One bizarre video features Arnett dealing with dead rats as a mustachioed character. "Robbie keeps wanting me to film him taking out dead rats," Olsen whispers to the camera. Arnett then pretends to answer the phone, saying, "Jerry's pest control." Hilarious!

They remodeled their backyard for gardening and entertaining

Elizabeth Olsen and Robbie Arnett seem to be really going back to basics during the pandemic. As Olsen explained in an essay for The Hollywood Reporter, "growing and harvesting my own produce was a lifelong dream." She went on to explain that she and Arnett hired a landscaper who helped them make her dream a reality. However, as the pandemic went on, Olsen found it difficult to keep up her gardening. "Looking back now on the past five months or so," she wrote, "my experience gardening has truly ebbed and flowed with my own emotional processing of the lockdown."

She explained that the garden thrived when she felt productive and happy, and that it became overgrown and out of control when she felt down. Arnett, of course, was there through it all. As she recalled, they would often spend afternoons sitting in the garden with friends. "We would walk around picking and eating tomatoes, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and bagging up lemons for the road," she wrote.

Heather Trilling, who remodeled the couples' backyard, explained to Architectural Digest,"They love entertaining, relaxing by the pool, and taking walks on the hiking trail just above their property."

Elizabeth Olsen and Robbie Arnett have always been extremely private

While Elizabeth Olsen doesn't mind mentioning Robbie Arnett in interviews, she doesn't go out of her way to talk about her relationship. In fact, it's pretty clear that she likes to keep her personal life as private as possible. As Olsen explained to Harper's Bazaar, she's never been a fan of social media; when she did have Instagram, she never really felt comfortable with her more personal posts. "Every day I think I should delete it," she explained." She even said, "I find myself putting something private up there and I think, 'This is stupid, why did I do that? I should delete it immediately.'"

Additionally, Olsen told the The New York Times, "I just think about creating as healthy of a life as possible." She also said, "I really do love my job, and I'm happy doing just that and the charity I do, and being as private as possible." As for Arnett, he keeps things private, too. Even though Elizabeth Olsen and Robbie Arnett remodeled their yard in LA during the COVID lockdown, they ended up moving to England midway through the pandemic. As Olsen explained on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," they made the move in late 2020. The country was under pretty strict regulations at the time due to the virus, so Olsen and Arnett had a low-key New Year's Eve. "I was home, with my man Robbie," she revealed. "We set an alarm to make sure we didn't miss midnight and I actually put on a dress, it was really exciting."

Olsen also spoke about living in the U.K. with Arnett on the podcast, Table Manners with Jessie Ware. She adorably described Arnett as her "man-guy-partner," then explained that the couple were living outside of London in the quaint village of Richmond in a cottage "right by the water." By the sound of things, the experience was nothing short of idyllic. "We're living out this British dream," as Olsen put it.

Apparently, Arnett had started writing too, "not music, like, normal writing," and the cottage was the perfect home office.

They hope to live in London one day

Apparently, Arnett felt the same way. "Robbie and I both just feel so connected to England," as Olsen put it.

Additionally, it was the British people and their easy-going humor that made the country so appealing to Olsen and Arnett. Apparently, they were already looking into visa options to make the move permanent. "Now we want to write a rom-com [set in England] because we don't wanna leave," Olsen added. Sounds like this couple will do just about anything to extend their stay!

Children might also be in their future

So, Elizabeth Olsen and Robbie Arnett have been talking about moving to England. But as it turns out, they may also be thinking about starting a family. Olsen has previously opened up about her desire for kids in the future, and now that Arnett is in the picture, it may be that starting a family is a big part of their plans.

In 2017, Olsen spoke to Modern Luxury about buying her first house. "I was also thinking," she said, "There's this small room upstairs, which would be good for a kid." She clarified, "I don't know where things will lead, but I do think about it in that way: 'I think I could raise kids here'" (via People). Sounds like for Olsen, kids are definitely part of the future plan. So, who knows? Maybe in a few years, Olsen and Arnett will be settled down in the U.K. with a child or two!
