Justin Timberlake Sheds Light On The Worry He Has For His Kids

Justin Timberlake and his wife of eight years, Jessica Biel, are concerned about how their fame will impact their kids. During a recent appearance on Dax Shepard's podcast, Armchair Expert, the 39-year-old musician-turned-actor admitted that he and Biel are doing their best to allow their kids, Silas and Phineas, to be kids in hopes that they won't eventually feel defined by their parents' careers.

"I try to be conscious of making sure we can live a life where we're not weirdly private but we're conscious of making sure they can be kids for as long as possible," Timberlake explained (per the Daily Mail). "And not have the weight of somebody else treating them differently because of something that their parents do."

As Timberlake fans well know, he voices the character of Branch in the Trolls movies. Meanwhile, the wife of Shepard, Kristen Bell, voices Anna in Frozen. So, when it comes to understanding the odd challenges faced by celebrity parents, Shepard, who shares daughters Delta and Lincoln with Bell, completely understands. "I have that great fear that kids are going to hang out with them solely because of that or resent them because of that," Shepard admitted.

Looking back at one specific parenting moment, Dax Shepard recalled a conversation he had with his girls. "I know you're proud and you should be able to say that, but I'm just warning you, that'll probably make other kids jealous and they won't know how to handle that feeling,' Shepard said of what he told his kids.

In response, Justin Timberlake revealed he and his wife have had similar conversations with their sons. "Yeah, we have this same thing where, like, the kids at school with my five-year-old are like, "Your dad is Branch," Timberlake said. "For guys like us, you know, the hope is that we just keep instilling in them that we got really fun jobs, but it's not who we are," he added.

Timberlake and Biel tied the knot in October 2012 and welcomed their first child in April 2015. Then, earlier this month, after facing rumors of a split in 2020, they confirmed the addition of their second son.
