Chrissy Teigen Shows Surgery Scars In Revealing Selfie

Chrissy Teigen is known for getting super real on social media, even if it ends up causing a stir, like her recent admission about a $13,000 bottle of wine. The model has really been put through the ringer over the past while, particularly after the recent devastating loss of her unborn child. Earlier this year, she underwent surgery to alleviate pain from endometriosis, a sadly prevalent disorder that causes uterine lining tissue to grow outside the uterus, creating intense discomfort. Teigen shared with followers how difficult the recovery process was.

"Usually I'm really good after [surgery]. This one's a toughie," the mother of two admitted, (per People). Although Teigen was glad to have had the procedure, she noted "every little cough" hurt. Still, she acknowledged that "it is truly still better than the contractions and the pain of endo." The cookbook author's surgery also sadly coincided with her third child's original due date, which made the process even tougher for her. Rather than shy away from the reality of it, however, Teigen is opening up about the long-term effects on her body in a bid to help other women.

Chrissy Teigen is preaching self love above all else

On Valentine's Day, Teigen shared a mirror selfie via her Instagram story in which her significant scars are fully visible. "Happy Valentine's Day. Love yourself! Bitch has been throuuugh it," the Cravings author quipped alongside the photo, as People reports. The scars, which dot Teigen's breasts and stomach, alongside some small bandages on her hip, are the result of both her endometriosis procedure and her breast implant removal surgery, which the mother of two underwent last year and was similarly open about on Instagram, naturally.

Teigen isn't the only one encouraging fans to love their bodies no matter what. Lizzo took to Instagram earlier this month to share a video of herself wearing just underwear while lovingly stroking her belly and soothingly talking to it in the mirror. "Blowing her kisses and showering her with praises," she explained in the caption. The "Juice" hit-maker added, "I used to want to cut my stomach off I hated it so much. ... I am learning to radically love every part of myself. Even if it means talking to myself every morning. This is your sign to love on yourself today!"
