What We Know About Prince Philip's Relationship With Princess Anne

Princess Anne was born in August 1950, and is the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. The Princess has often been described as being close to and very much like her father. In fact, the two share so many similarities that Express had body language expert Judi James study photos of Prince Philip and Princess Anne to determine just how alike they might be.

As it turns out, the father and daughter have a lot in common. "Princess Anne is very much the chip off the old block as far as Philip is concerned and their body language throws up many more similarities, suggesting a very like-minded approach to life and being part of the Firm," James explained. "Like her father, Anne appears to be someone stoic and dependable but also unfussy and upbeat as a companion. Also like Philip, Anne often looks on the brink of a wry and slightly cynical smile and this more down-to-earth and even irreverent approach should be exactly what the Queen needs to keep her happy and grounded."

Prince Philip and Princess Anne are both "unfussy"

Judi James continued by pointing out that Princess Anne and the Queen likely enjoy a relationship that isn't too dissimilar from the one that Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth share. "Princess Anne has always been both the closest and the most similar in terms of personality to her father Prince Philip. Her low-key, unfussy, immensely solid role in the Queen's public life makes their relationship look similar in many ways to that between the Queen and her husband. Like her father, Anne appears to make the Queen laugh and most poses between the two women suggest a shared sense of humor, bringing out a side of the Queen that we rarely get to glimpse" (via Express).

Hello! has even gone a step further, writing that many believe Princess Anne is Prince Philip's favorite child, a claim that's been backed up by the Daily Mail. The Mail reported that Eileen Parker, a family friend of the royals, once said, "[Philip] always had more fun with Anne. Charles is more like the Queen, while Anne is very like Prince Philip."
