The Reason Pedro And Chantel Jimeno Got Their Own Spin-Off

The 90 Day Fiancé franchise is growing at an alarming rate, with more spin-offs and offshoots being announced by the minute. Fans now have the opportunity to get to know the various couples on a whole other level, love them or hate them. Whether they're teaming up to prove they know each other the best on Love Games, sharing insider secrets about their relationships in 90 Day Bares All, or taking over by telling their own stories in the candid, 90 Day Diaries, fans can't get enough of these reality couples.

Pedro and Chantel Jimeno are one of the most talked about couples in the history of 90 Day Fiancé. As Screen Rant notes, they first appeared on season 4. Pedro fought hard to prove himself to Chantel's disapproving family, who were suspicious of his intentions from the beginning. The couple, obviously, eventually made it work but it was that fascinating and incredibly watchable family drama that contributed to the decision to gift them their own spinoff.

Pedro and Chantel Jimeno are fan favorites

In April 2019, TLC announced to excited fans that The Family Chantel was imminent. A formal statement by network executives disclosed,  "This is an awesome moment for TLC, as we create a family show based on one of our most popular 90 Day couples" (via Discovery). TLC president and general manager Howard Lee continued, "Our fans can't get enough of Pedro, Chantel and their larger-than-life families. For a brand known as the destination for love, relationships and family shows, The Family Chantel hits the bullseye." It was clear from the network's statement why Pedro and Chantel had been chosen amongst the plethora of other couples.

As TLC noted, "Pedro and Chantel have weathered major marital ups and downs involving everything from feisty family members to their own trust issues." The fan favorite duo previously appeared on another spin-off, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, where their entertaining familial issues continued apace. According to People, during one particularly explosive fight, "lamps were punched, shirts were torn, [and] weaves were ripped out." As TLC promised, with The Family Chantel, "Viewers will follow this unique modern family as they try to move past their differences and come together."
