Brooke Shields Opens Up About Learning To Walk Again

Everyone's favorite supermodel, Brooke Shields, is learning to walk again after breaking her femur. Taking to Instagram to share the news with her fans, she wrote, "Broke my femur. Beginning to mend," alongside a video of her wearing a hospital gown while trying to walk with crutches. Allowing herself to put only 20 per cent of her body weight on her bad leg, she said that the current goal "is to bend your knee each time like a little bit, just so you're not dragging it or hitching up your hip."

While we don't know the details about how the Jane the Virgin actor hurt herself, it seems she is in high spirits despite her injury, going so far as to share a positive message at the end of her Instagram post: "No matter what your challenge is, make a positive choice, for yourself, to move forward," she told her fans, before signing off with the hashtag #BeginningisNow.

Shields underwent knee surgery in 2018

We can only imagine how much of a blow it must have been for Brooke Shields — she had knee surgery less than five years ago and only recently felt like she had fully recovered and gained back her ability to use her body to its fullest. "It's been a long road to get here," she shared on Instagram in January, 2020, alongside a reel of her workouts. "In 2018 I had knee surgery and I wanted to make sure I had a quick and easy recovery — in order to do that I needed to strengthen the muscles around my knee. As I started to workout with this specific goal in mind I learned so much about how the body works and started to feel better than I ever had before. By the time I had recovered from surgery my fitness routine had become part of my lifestyle." Go Brooke!
