Meghan Markle's Comments On Kate Middleton Have Prince William Upset

Amidst the fallout between the Mountbatten-Windsors on either side of the Atlantic, people have been wondering when they will hear a response from the royal family. Following Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's dramatic interview in which "nothing" was off limits, Prince William, Prince Charles and the Queen have reportedly been in talks about how to do damage control, The Daily Mail reports. After Markle alleged racism within the royal family, a severe lack of mental health support and that "the Firm" refused to protect her and her family, the Windsors are likely planning their next move.

The interview began with Markle discussing a turning point during her time at the palace that revolved around Kate Middleton. During her sit down with legendary talk show host Oprah Winfrey, the Duchess of Sussex explained that the tabloids picked up a story that she had made her sister-in-law cry prior to her wedding to Prince Harry. After Winfrey asked her about what happened, she revealed that it was Middleton who had brought her to tears after disagreeing over the bridesmaids' outfits. Markle revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge had apologized and sent her flowers, noting that her sister-in-law is a "good person".

Since the opening lines of the interview directly implicated his wife, Prince William has likely taken an issue with the coverage of Kate Middleton. According to Entertainment Tonight, the future king had an understandably strong reaction to the interview as well as concerns over his wife getting dragged into it. Royal expert Katie Nicholl told the outlet that, "William is devastated by this interview."

Hopes for a reconciliation between the brothers may have to wait

Nicholl added, "Don't forget that the Duchess of Cambridge is being dragged into this whole saga and William will hate that and of course, relationship between father and son is of course at an all-time low."

Prince Harry revealed, once again, that he and his brother are on "different paths" later in the interview. Fox News reports that he used the word "space" to describe the relationship at this point and only time will tell how the CBS special impacts that rift. Nicholl said to Entertainment Tonight, "I think that the idea that Kate's being dragged into this will be upsetting for Kate who behind the scenes has tried really hard to be a peacemaker between William and Harry. She has been deeply saddened by the brothers' falling out. Don't forget she was incredibly close to Harry herself."

While Prince William ponders how to react and protect his wife, his father got most of the heat during the chat. The outlet notes that Prince Charles stopped taking his second son's calls during the Megxit drama, according to Prince Harry. Furthermore, the prince said that he felt "let down" by his father, and was hoping that things would get better.

But, as far as the relationship between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton goes, it's important to remember what the Duchess of Sussex contended, reminding the audience that you don't have to choose one or the other. Rather than pitting two women against each other, it's better to appreciate their commitment to service and respect for their families.
