The Untold Truth Of Olivia Newton-John's Daughter, Chloe

Being the child of a superstar might sound like a lot of fun — you don't have to worry about money, people love your parents, and you probably get the best of everything — but not every celebrity child has lived a charmed life, and Olivia Newton-John's daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, is one prime example. For Lattanzi, her mother's fame was helpful at times, yes, but not always.

Though you might not have ever heard of Lattanzi, she's pretty much always been in her mother's shadow. The two had an extremely close relationship, and though Lattanzi grew up and started her own businesses and life separate from her mother's, the two remained tight. Still, as low-key as Lattanzi's life has been, it's pretty interesting. The truth about Olivia Newton-John's daughter, Chloe, is dramatic and shows the many ups and downs that come with be being born into a talented and famous family.

Olivia Newton-John and Chloe partnered on a special project

Most people probably immediately think of the movie "Grease" when they think of Olivia Newton-John, and that would make sense. It was certainly the celeb's biggest film, and it really set her career on fire. But Newton-John had a singing career outside of movies, and in one case, she brought her only child, daughter Chloe Lattanzi, along for the ride.

In 2021, Newton-John got back in the recording studio for the first time in a long time to record a song given to her called "Window in the Wall." In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Newton-John revealed why she chose her daughter for the duet. "The only person I thought of was Chloe to sing it with me, because it was such a personal song," she explained. And as for Lattanzi? She was just happy to be involved. "I was honored that out of all the people my mom could have asked, she asked me," Lattanzi added. "That meant the world to me." It must have been a ton of fun for the mother-daughter duo to get to work together, and it proves how much Lattanzi really valued her mom.

Chloe followed in her mother's footsteps and became an actor

Olivia Newton-John wasn't solely a singer, as she's also appeared in films and television shows. And Newton-John isn't the only actor in the family, as her daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, has acted quite a bit over the years. Lattanzi has appeared in television shows, films, and made-for-TV movies since she first started acting in 1993.

In 2017, Lattanzi appeared in "Sharknado 5: Global Swarming," starring alongside her mother. And, clearly, it was a great project which provided Lattanzi a truly enjoyable experience. "I got to work with a lot of the people I've worked with before and it's such a loving environment," Lattanzi told Entertainment Tonight. "It happened really quickly. I learned my lines basically in like two days and it was a lot of fun." Whether or not Lattanzi chooses to act again in the future is undetermined, but, for a while, it was something she was very passionate about.

Olivia Newton-John's daughter became a singer

Not every child of a celebrity is lucky to inherit their parents' talents, but for Olivia Newton-John's daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, luck, along with talent, played a part. Lattanzi launched her own singing career, independent of her mother.

According to the Daily Mail, Lattanzi actually started her singing career when she landed her first record deal at just 15 years old. Unfortunately, she also dealt with addiction and told the publication that her struggles affected her ability to finish recording the album. "I had blackouts, I would stay up on three-day-long binges without ever going to sleep. Days and weeks started to blend together," she said. But, in 2015, Lattanzi returned to the studio to record new music both with and without her mother by her side. Clearly, Lattanzi has come a long way in terms of music, and who knows what she'll do next.

Lattanzi told The Hollywood Reporter that she and her fiancé, James Driskill, run a cannabis farm, which is also a family affair. The business owner also noted that there was more than just one cannabis product they produce. "It's Bio Harmonic Tonic, which is a microbial product to help your garden and your plants flourish. And we have our farm, Laughing Dog Farms," she said, adding that everything on the farm is organic and that they "even sing to our plants." Yes, really. Chloe is passionate about natural medicine

People have all kinds of passions and hobbies, and discovering new ones can be super fun. For Olivia Newton-John's daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, natural medicine is one of her biggest passions, and it's one that she seems intent on sharing with the world. While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Lattanzi said, "The most important thing for me in life is to be someone who facilitates healing and talks about plant medicine. I want to show a wide array of perspectives." Natural medicine is clearly one of the most important things in Lattanzi's life, and its a passion her mom also embraced.

"[My husband] has been growing [cannabis] for me for a number of years and I've benefited so much," Newton-John told The Hollywood Reporter. "I was able to wean myself off morphine a couple of years ago when I broke my sacrum using cannabis and I want to let people know the healing values of plant medicine."

Olivia Newton-John's daughter appeared on a reality show

In addition to her singing and acting career, as well as her cannabis farm business venture, Olivia Newton-John's daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, also appeared on a fun reality competition show. Lattanzi starred in Australia's "Dancing with the Stars" and reportedly had a blast. And while she was eventually eliminated in a Cha-Cha dance-off, Lattanzi still had a pretty impressive run on the show.

In an interview with Stellar magazine (via the Daily Mail), Lattanzi pointed out that people shouldn't have been so surprised at her success on the Australian version of the reality show. "People forget that I'm a legitimate singer and musician because my depression and anxiety have overshadowed that part of me," she said. "I want people to see me for who I am, not an illness I overcame." Lattanzi might not have won the competition, but she clearly had a lot of fun on the show and was able to showcase just how talented she truly is.

Olivia Newton-John's daughter has a kind of godfather in this celebrity

As Olivia Newton-John had breast cancer since the early 1990s, she decided to plan out what would happen if she doesn't survive; in particular, Newton-John worked to make sure her daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, would be okay. According to Woman's Day, Newton-John wasn't afraid of much but did worry for her daughter. "The hardest thing for Olivia isn't the thought of dying but leaving Chloe behind, fragile and virtually alone in the world," an insider told the publication. "This causes her the most grief and torment."

So, while Newton-John had already worked to set Lattanzi up financially for the future, she also had to ensure someone would look out for her daughter emotionally. Newton-John looked to her friend and former co-star John Travolta for help. "She's asked John to pledge to be that person," the source explained. "He didn't blink an eye and said, 'Of course.'" This pledge ensured that Lattanzi would be totally cared for no matter what.

Chloe Lattanzi's heartbreaking response to Olivia Newton-John's death

Olivia Newton-John was first diagnosed with breast cancer back in 1992. In 2013, the cancer had returned and metastasized to her shoulder and, in 2017, her cancer returned for a third time (via Yahoo). Sadly, on August 8, 2022, Newton-John's husband, John Easterling, took to Facebook to announce that his wife had died that morning at the age of 73, surrounded by loved ones.

Two months before her mother's death, Chloe Lattanzi posted a photo of her and Newton-John to Instagram with what now seems like an elegiac caption: "Always and forever mama. I got you. I see you. I will walk with you to the ends of the earth no questions asked."

On August 5, Lattanzi posted another such photo with a devotional caption. Then Lattanzi fell silent. Following Easterling's announcement on August 8, Lattanzi shared a series of photos of her and her mom on Instagram, sans caption. The following day, Newton-John's daughter took to Instagram once more, sharing a video of the mother-daughter duo recording the song "Window In The Wall." Lattanzi captioned the post, "You are my lighthouse mama. My safe place. My heart space. It has been my honor and continues to be my honor to be your baby and best friend. You are an angel on earth and everyone touched by you has been blessed. I love you forever my life giver, my teacher, my mama."
