Why The Internet Is Buzzing Over J.Lo's Latest Instagram Photos

Last month, reports circulated that A-list couple Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez had called it quits after four years together, effectively calling off their engagement in the process. As Page Six reported at the time, J-Rod had already postponed their big day twice and suffered the fallout from infidelity rumors surrounding the Yankees player to boot. Neither party commented at the time, but both posted vaguely dark-sounding Instagram messages. Meanwhile, an insider confirmed simply, "He's now in Miami getting ready for baseball season, and she's filming her movie in the Dominican Republic."

Rodriguez popped the question back in 2019, but the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic repeatedly stalled their nuptial plans. The baseball star was accused of cheating with Southern Charm's Madison LeCroy, but sources close to A-Rod argued he'd never met her. Although their split seemed fairly cut and dry, the couple appeared to have a change of heart and were soon spotted indulging in some very public PDA. In a follow-up report, Page Six noted they were trying to work things out. However, just a few weeks later, J-Lo's latest Instagram post seems to hint that there's trouble in paradise yet again.

J.Lo is missing a crucial piece of jewelry

Jennifer Lopez shared a series of shots from the set of Shotgun Wedding, where she's sitting on some steps looking casual yet glamorous in sweatpants and a crop top, her impressively toned abs on full display (via Instagram). What's most noticeable about the photos, aside from how gorgeous the singer and actress looks, is that her massive, $1 million engagement ring is missing. Lopez is wearing other jewelry in the images, namely a whole heap of gold bracelets, matching necklace, and even a diamond sparkler on her right hand, but her engagement ring is curiously absent. "Keep calm and work on the weekend," she captioned the post.

Following the initial Page Six report, Rodriguez and Lopez released a joint statement claiming they were working through a tough time. An insider told People, "They never officially broke up and talked about it but are still together. They hit a rough patch. But were not broken up." The cheating rumors had nothing to do with it either, according to the source. Likewise, E! News reported that Rodriguez had to step up "in a public way" and reaffirm his commitment to Lopez before they could move forward. The Yankees star traveled to the Dominican Republic, where she's shooting, to be by her side after the story first broke. The couple even went to therapy to work through their issues.

Judging by this most recent post, though, who knows what to believe anymore?
