The Truth About Lindsey Vonn And Tiger Woods' Relationship

Tiger Wood's love life has been the center of media scrutiny for years following his many scandals and martial disputes. While he may be able to get a hole in one on a par 3, he certainly struggled when it came to finding his happily ever after.

The news broke fan's hearts when the golf legend was exposed as a serial cheater back in 2009, (per The Globe and Mail). On Thanksgiving night that year, Woods was chased out of his own home by his wife, Elin Nordegren – who also happened to be reeling a golf club for good measure – as she learned their marriage vows had been broken. While his wife and fans thought it might have been one or two girls at first, it was later revealed that there was an onrush of porn stars, strippers, escorts, and party girls who all had relations with the professional golfer.

After his reported extramarital affairs, Woods was not only blackballed in the world of sports, but he was also called out in the game of love. After taking some much-needed time to reflect, he finally jumped back onto the dating scene and did not disappoint fans with his choices. It was a match made in sports heaven — the most iconic player ever to hit the golf circuit and a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Olympic skier. Woods met Lindsey Vonn while at a charity event back in 2012, and the two hit it off instantly, (via Huffington Post).

Tiger and Lindsey were at the top of their games

By March of 2013, the power couple revealed that they were an official item. Both the gold medalist and the professional golfer were often incredibly busy as the father of two was working on his comeback, and Lindsey Vonn was readying herself for the 2018 Olympics.

In January 2015, shortly before their split, Tiger Woods surprised his girlfriend by showing up in Italy to watch her compete and win in the Super-G competition, which also happened to be her comeback after a horrible knee injury (per Golf).

But their love affair started to sizzle out by May 2015. The Olympian released a statement saying that she and the 14-time major champion were no longer an item, writing, "After nearly three years together, Tiger and I have mutually decided to end our relationship. I will always cherish the memories that we've created together. Unfortunately, we both lead incredibly hectic lives that force us to spend a majority of our time apart. I will always admire and respect Tiger," (via Bleacher Report).

Tiger and Lindsey broke up with class

Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn have since moved on from their relationship, with Vonn since having a short-lived engagement to NHL star P.K. Subban; in 2020, they announced they had broken up too, (via CBS Sports).

Woods also found love again with Erica Herman, (per The New York Post). Vonn has decided to retire and is enjoying the downtime, according to People. The three-time Olympic medalist is looking forward to a "clean slate" while her ex-boyfriend, Woods, is still healing after his one-car crash back in February 2021.

Regardless of their past, the two professional athletes still aim to support one another in their separate endeavors. Vonn recently posted about Wood's car crash on Twitter, saying she was praying for him and wished him a speedy recovery. All in all, the two could be commended for how they have been able to stay respectful to one another even though they are no longer an A-list couple.
