Princess Beatrice Reveals Some Exciting Family News
Princess Beatrice has revealed that she is expecting her first child with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi this autumn. The happy news comes 10 months after the princess married her property developer husband in a COVID-safe ceremony in Windsor. May 19, 2021 also happens to mark the third anniversary of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the happy announcement on Twitter with a statement that read: "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year." While Beatrice's due date hasn't been revealed, the statement confirmed that "the Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news."
Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi held a small, private ceremony for their wedding in July 2020, at Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge in Windsor. A group of 20 close friends and family, including the queen and Prince Philip, were in attendance, adhering to strict social distancing measures (via People). The couple had reportedly been dating since Fall 2018, and officially announced their engagement via Buckingham Palace, a year later in September 2019.
Upon their marriage, Princess Beatrice became stepmother to Mozzi's four-year-old son Christopher Woolf, who he shares with ex-partner, American architect Dara Huang (via People). This will be Princess Beatrice and Mozzi's first child together.

Princess Beatrice's new arrival will be the second grandchild born this year for her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. Beatrice's sister Princess Eugenie welcomed a son, August, in February 2021 (via People).

The happy news comes as the royal family are in mourning from the passing of Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth's husband, in April this year. Philip, who would have turned 100 in June, had suffered health issues in recent years and retired from public duties in August 2017 (via People).
