The world truly fell in love with Jonathan Van Ness after they appeared on the first season of the hit Netflix reboot series, "Queer Eye," along with co-stars Tan France, Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, and Antoni Porowski (via IMDb). Since Van Ness and the rest of the crew first graced our small screens in 2018, fans have been able to follow the Fab Five across the world as they help men and women transform their lives, living spaces, and of course, their looks.

Van Ness, who worked as a hairstylist before "Queer Eye" catapulted him to A-list stardom, opened up about their passion for doing hair — especially for the "heroes" on each episode — during an interview with InStyle in 2018. "It all comes back to positive self-talk," they told the outlet of the power and importance of a good haircut. "I would say a key to liking your hair is embracing what Mother Nature gave you." Van Ness explained that the best form of hair care comes from loving your crazy curls or your extremely dark hair — whatever you've got, rock it.

"From my experience, usually where people's hair gets super messed up is when you're, like, constantly fighting what Mother Nature gave you," Van Ness said.

Jonathan Van Ness' secret to amazing hair starts with this shampoo

Jonathan Van Ness doesn't just give incredible hair makeovers both on and off-screen — the "Over the Top" author noticeably has an enviable head of hair themselves, and according to PopSugar, the 34-year-old reality star's shampoo is to thank for that. In an essay for Into The Gloss, Van Ness wrote that they swear by Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo, which is popular in its home country of Japan, where "Queer Eye" filmed a four-episode season in 2019. If you don't live in Japan, you can still grab it in the United States or online — it's available at Sephora for $36.

Earlier this year, Van Ness took to Instagram to share that they were launching their own hair care line, writing, "I'm so full of gratitude to share with you that after years in the making I'm launching my very own haircare brand! ... I'm teaming up with their parent company Amyris to develop their, and my, first ever haircare line!" (via Allure).

The figure skating enthusiast continued by saying that their own haircare line was uniquely designed to be both inclusive and sustainable, and that the team at Amyris was the only group that they trusted with such a project.

"We're ready to revolutionize the haircare industry and can't wait to share it with you later this year," Van Ness posted. Can't wait to try it out ourselves!
