The Sweet Way Brooke Shields' Daughter Honored Her Famous Mom At Prom

It's prom season in Hollywood, and stars' kids are finding sweet ways to express themselves with their outfits. Jennie Garth's daughter recently asked her famous mom to make her prom dress, with the "Beverly Hills, 90210" actress telling ET about her very first sewing project, "I mean, what moms do for their kids. I will do anything they need or ask me to do."

In the case of Brooke Shields' daughter, it seems she too wanted to experience a connection with her mom on her prom night. But instead of asking the "Suddenly Susan" star to sew her gown, Rowan decided to rewear one of Shields' most iconic awards dresses (via Extra).

Remember the strapless, fire engine red gown the actress donned to the Golden Globes in 1998? It was when she was nominated for an award for her turn on "Suddenly Susan" (via IMDb). That was a big night by any actor's standards, but it turns out for Shields, her daughter's prom night was even more memorable.

Brooke Shields could never have imagined this day would come

As Shields, who has openly talked about her struggle with infertility, shared via Instagram about the experience of watching Rowan rewear her red gown from over two decades ago, "I thought it was a special night when I was nominated for a Golden Globe and wore this dress in 1998, but nothing could have prepared me to see my daughter wearing it to her prom" (via Today). The star added she was a "proud mama!"

Of course, Rowan looked fabulous in the dress, choosing not to pair the look with her mom's matching red shawl, and skipping her bold red lip for more natural-looking makeup.

The response to Shields' share was overwhelming, with star friends and followers dropping by the comments section to say how beautiful Rowan looked, and indeed how special it is that the star's gown gets to have a second life as her daughter's prom dress.
