NeNe Leakes Shares A Heartbreaking Tribute To Her Late Husband Gregg

NeNe Leakes tragically shared that her husband Gregg Leakes was struggling with cancer just a few days before he died, per CNN. She shared, "My husband is transitioning to the other side," at a club appearance the weekend prior, according to Page Six. Leakes was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2018 but went into remission.

On the initial diagnosis, she shared, "It's been a big transition for Gregg and I and our entire family," she told People in November 2018. "To learn that Gregg has cancer? Our lives just changed that day. Our whole routine changed. Just ... everything changed. I don't have cancer. Gregg has cancer. But I feel like our whole house has cancer."

His cancer returned and his health quickly went downhill. In June, NeNe shared that his cancer had returned and he had undergone surgery, according to People. She took to Instagram live to share with fans about his declining health. "It's difficult," she shared while her husband was recovering from surgery. "He's super small. If you've ever been around somebody who's had cancer before, he's different. He's different."

Sadly, Leakes died on September 1. NeNe didn't make an initial statement. However, she shared a heartfelt post to her Instagram account.

She shared a heartfelt video of the couple dancing

Following the death of her husband, fans looked to Leakes for a statement. While they wanted to make sure their beloved former "Real Housewife of Atlanta" was holding up okay after such a tragedy, it can be difficult for those going through grief to speak on the subject publicly.

According to USA Today, an official statement was made on behalf of the family by publicist Ernest Dukes, which read: "Today the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife Nene Leakes. We ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family & allow them to mourn in private during this very very difficult time."

Leakes took to Instagram to share a heartwarming post in honor of her late husband, per ET. The video shows the couple dancing to "It Would Be You" by Johnny Gill. The caption was a line of heart emojis.
