Matt James Shares The Real Reason He Is Excited To Join DWTS

"Dancing With the Stars" is gearing up for another new season, and fans of the long-running dance competition show are looking forward to seeing some of their favorite celebs show off their moves on stage. Among those competing on Season 30 include Lori Loughlin's daughter Olivia Jade – who was caught up in the college admission scandal and has received mixed reactions to her being cast on the show — "The Talk" co-host Amanda Kloots, Olympic gymnast and gold medal winner Suni Lee, former "90210" star Brian Austin Green, YouTube sensation JoJo Siwa (who made "Dancing With the Stars" history after becoming the first contestant to dance with a pro of the same sex), and former "Bachelor" lead Matt James (via Good Morning America).

And while just the thought of competing on one of the most-watched television shows in front of all of America is enough to send butterflies through even the most confident person's stomach, it seems as though James is taking it all in stride and is excited to show viewers that he's more than just a man who found love on a reality show.

Here's why Matt James is stoked about joining Dancing With the Stars

Speaking with Us Weekly after the Season 30 cast of "Dancing With the Stars" was announced, Matt James told the outlet that he's excited to shed his "boring" bachelor image and hopes that fans will view him differently than they did on the reality show. "Hopefully [audiences] won't think I'm as boring as I was as 'The Bachelor!'" he said after addressing the reason he grew out his now-infamous beard after "The Bachelor" ended.

"It was something I did. It's not who I am," he said of the show and his appearance after the season aired. "And I think that a lot of people got that confused. After the show's over, [people were] expecting me to look a certain way, act a certain way. I'm Matt James. I'm not here to please them. I'm here to be the best version of myself."

You can catch James and the rest of the star-studded cast on the premiere of "Dancing With the Stars" on ABC on Monday, September 20, 2021.
