Dina Lohan's Jail Sentence Explained

The early 2000s were the golden age for the Lohans. With Lindsay on screen starring in countless roles and even trying her hand at music, the family rose to fame with her talents as their calling card. However, with that fame came a lot of pressure for her parents and siblings. Once starring alongside her younger daughter, Ali, in E!'s "Living Lohan," Dina Lohan has had her fair share of run-ins with the law and the paparazzi over the years.

According to People, Lohan's most recent run-in with the law took place after a fender bender in Long Island, New York. In January 2020, the former reality star pleaded not guilty to driving while intoxicated. Her attorney shared that her charges included, "drunk driving, unlicensed operator, unregistered operator, leaving the scene of an accident and several other violations of the vehicle traffic law, in conjunction with a felony charge of drunk driving."

More recently, Lohan pleaded guilty to the charges and was subsequently required to spend 18 days in jail and five years of probation. Previously, the outlet reports, her charges would have required a six-month jail stay and five years of probation. The recent hearing decreased her jail time, but her probation protocol remained the same.

Dina Lohan was charged with a DWI

Making matters worse for Dina Lohan, her driver's license was suspended at the time of the accident in question. Fox News reports that Lohan rear-ended another vehicle and quickly drove away. Making the incident a hit and run, the former reality star quickly found herself in hot water. The outlet notes that the other driver followed her home and called the police while she tried to flee the scene. Once she finally pulled over, an officer reported that she smelled of booze.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first incident she's been involved with. In 2014, she was sentenced to community service for aggravated drunken driving. Lohan also had to complete an anti-drunken driving course for the offense. People notes that she also lost her license due to the incident and paid $3,000 in fines. Lohan was married to her three children's father, Micahel, between 1985 and 2007. Most recently, she shared news of her engagement to Jesse Nadler in 2020, the outlet reports.

With this latest run-in, Dina Lohan will now head to jail to serve time for the offense.
