Inside Christina Haack's Dating History

You probably first came to know Christina Haack as Christina El Moussa, the designer half of the Southern California house-flipping duo on HGTV's "Flip or Flop." When the series began, it focused on Haack and her then-husband, Tarek El Moussa, two former real estate agents navigating the world of home renovation in Southern California after nearly losing everything as a result of the 2008 market crash (via HGTV). The series also introduced viewers to their personal lives as a newly married couple raising their young daughter. In short, it became more than just a home renovation show, as it followed the couple's personal trials and tribulations, which included divorce. However, the show went on, and, according to E!, it's even more popular now than it was when they were married.

Since her divorce from El Moussa, Haack has been quite busy — filming new episodes of "Flip or Flop" with El Moussa and her own HGTV show, "Christina On the Coast," not to mention developing furniture and flooring lines, buying real estate, traveling, being a mom of three, and, of course, dating. Over the years, she's had a number of relationships, some more serious than others. As of this writing, she's been married twice and engaged three times. If you just started following Haack or need a refresher (after all, she has changed her name twice since becoming a public figure), let's go inside Christina Haack's dating history.

Christina Haack became a public figure while married to Tarek El Moussa

We first came to know Christina Haack as the wife of her "Flip or Flop" co-star, Tarek El Moussa. The two met in 2005 while working together in real estate. Once El Moussa ended a previous relationship, things moved quickly; Haack told Good Housekeeping that they moved in together the day they "officially started dating" in October 2006. They married in 2009 and welcomed daughter Taylor in 2010 (via Country Living) but had fallen on hard times after the 2008 financial crisis.

Their big break came after submitting an audition tape for a show about house flipping, which the two had considered as a potential career change. The tape caught HGTV's attention, and, in 2013, "Flip or Flop" became an instant success. Viewers loved both the couple's home transformations and their story, following their successes, which included expanding their family, and personal setbacks: El Moussa's cancer diagnosis after a nurse/viewer contacted him about a lump she noticed on his neck, their struggle to conceive their second child through IVF, and their shocking 2016 split after a largely-publicized incident involving a gun, which turned out to be a "misunderstanding."

Despite her divorce from El Moussa — who's now engaged to "Selling Sunset" star Heather Rae Young – and the occasional ups and downs, Haack continues to work with her ex on "Flip or Flop" and co-parent their two adorable kids.

Amidst her separation from Tarek, she dated their former contractor

Soon after news of Christina Haack's separation from Tarek El Moussa made headlines, Haack was linked to Gary Anderson, a contractor who had worked for her and her ex. In fact, according to The Hollywood Gossip, Anderson was at the El Moussas' home the day police responded to Haack's frantic 911 call after El Moussa grabbed a gun and went for a walk. Anderson allegedly witnessed the incident and told Haack to call 911.

In January 2017, In Touch shared the first photos of Haack and Anderson, who were seen going for a walk near Anderson's home in Yorba Linda, California. A source who witnessed the former couple said that "Christina looked adoringly at him" and that "they seemed ... totally in sync." Although Anderson provided a shoulder to lean on during Haack's darkest days after her split from El Moussa, according to the source, this relationship wasn't meant to last: Us Weekly reported that the romance "fizzled out" in February 2017, largely due to "too many outside pressures."

The HGTV star was briefly linked to hockey player Nate Thompson

In March 2017, shortly following her split from contractor Gary Anderson, Christina Haack was rumored to be seeing NHL player Nate Thompson, then-player for the Anaheim Ducks who currently plays for the Philadelphia Flyers. "Christina and Nate have gone on a couple dates together," a source told ET at the time. "It's still very new and they're seeing where it goes."

In the end, it didn't go very far. By April, ET had confirmed that the two were no longer seeing each other. A source told the outlet that "nothing dramatic happened" and that the two were "super casual from the start." Additionally, the source added that timing got in the way and that "they remain friends."

Apparently, the two were over before it even became news, as the source noted to ET. Interestingly, the source also shared that Thompson got back together with an ex-girlfriend who happened to look like Haack shortly after. Hey, the guy's got a type.

Christina Haack next reconnected with an ex

Nate Thompson wasn't the only one reconnecting with someone from the past. By June 2017, according to ET, Christina Haack had reconnected with Doug Spedding, an ex she dated before Tarek El Moussa. Just a month later, the two were getting somewhat serious: A source noted to ET that Haack had even introduced daughter Taylor and son Brayden to Spedding — a successful car dealership owner — and his six kids.

However, by October of that year, the two called it quits for a pretty dramatic reason. A source told In Touch that Haack ended the relationship when she discovered his drug use and convinced him to return to rehab. "Christina is the type of person who sees the best side of others, and that's how she was with Doug," the source said. "Caring about someone does not save someone and Christina knows that. She just wanted to help him."

A second source told In Touch that Spedding was allegedly cheating on the HGTV star with an ex-girlfriend, alleging that "Christina went to put an alarm on Doug's cell phone to wake him up and she saw text messages [between Spedding and the ex]."

Ant Anstead became Christina Haack's second husband and baby daddy

Christina Haack's next relationship was with Ant Anstead, the British host of the show "Wheeler Dealers." Us Weekly confirmed their relationship in January 2018, though Haack revealed in a now-deleted Instagram post from October 2018 that they had actually begun seeing each other in October 2017.

Things moved quickly for the couple, with a December 2018 surprise wedding in the backyard of their Southern California home (all of which was shared on Haack's solo HGTV series, "Christina On the Coast"). A month later, she changed her last name on Instagram. And, in March 2019, she announced her pregnancy with their first child, which made for a blended family: In addition to Haack's two children, Anstead has two children from his previous marriage. By September 2019, Hudson London Anstead was born, and all seemed to be going well.

That's why it came as a shock to many when the pair revealed their separation in September 2020. A source shared with People that the couple began struggling after the baby was born and that, despite appearances, the "Christina On the Coast" star felt "lonely and unhappy."

Shortly after their split, Anstead revealed on Instagram that the separation was not his idea. By June 2021, their divorce was finalized, as noted by Us Weekly. As of publication, Anstead is dating Oscar-winner Renee Zellweger.

Following her divorce from Ant, Christina Haack is set to marry Joshua Hall

After her split from Ant Anstead, Christina Haack returned to her maiden name and didn't seem interested in dating. So, we were shocked to learn in July 2021 that Haack had moved on with Joshua Hall, a realtor living in Austin, Texas. As noted by Us Weekly, the two began dating in April 2021 after initially meeting several years earlier, while Haack was with Anstead.

By August, it was clear from an Instagram photo that Haack's new man had already met her kids, Taylor and Brayden, and by September, she confirmed their engagement. Reflecting on her past and present, she said, "Some people are lucky enough to get forever the first time but no one should be shamed for things not working out and no one knows what goes on behind closed doors." She added, "This woman / mama is still lucky enough to have this man choose me."

Haack has had to fight off haters who feel she jumped the gun with Hall. However, the star remains firm that this is the real deal, explaining in another post that she was in the right mindset – not "in a state of fear or fight-or-flight" — when they met and that their many "synchronicities ... were impossible to ignore." As a result, she initially kept her relationship with Hall — who doesn't have social media — more private.
