The Truth About Bachelorette Contestant Martin Gelbspan

Season 18 of "The Bachelorette" has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions, to say the least. The current season of the ABC series follows 28-year-old Michelle Young, the runner-up on Matt James' season of "The Bachelor." While James did not end up being Young's Mr. Right, the Minnesota native has been given a second chance to find love on this reality TV franchise (via Women's Health). And this time around, she had 30 handsome hopefuls vying for her affection. It doesn't get better than that, right?

One thing that Young has zero patience for? Drama. In an interview with People, the elementary school teacher was asked if there were any "deal breakers" for her, when it comes to finding her match. "I don't like drama. I stay away from it," she shared.

That being said, last week's episode must have been especially tough for Young, who was forced to cut her eight remaining suitors in half. One particularly heated elimination was Martin Gelbspan's, which occurred after he put his foot in his mouth, and not for the first time this season. In a conversation with other contestants, Gelbspan called Young "immature," in reference to her not having dealt with "trauma" from her past (via ET). Upon learning what happened, Young gave him a chance to explain himself, which he used as an opportunity to interrupt her and lie through his teeth. This was the final straw for Young, and she sent Gelbspan packing.

Surprisingly, Gelbspan and Young have a lot in common

According to Elite Daily, Twitter has never celebrated an elimination more than Martin Gelbspan's — and considering some of the nasty things that have gone down throughout the franchise's history, that's saying something. While Martin and Michelle may not have made the perfect match, there's a reason that the 29-year-old contestant made it as far as he did on this season: He has a surprising number of things in common with the Bachelorette. Like Young, the Miami native is very close to his family. In his ABC bio, Gelbspan states that one of his favorite ways to spend his time is with his Argentinian family, which he describes as "loud" and "fun." In addition, he idolizes his parents' marriage, and "credits them for teaching him how a husband should treat his wife." This is very much in line with how Young sees her own parents, whose marriage she views as relationship goals (via Reality Tidbit).

Despite their very different personalities, the pair's overlapping similarities don't stop there. While Young channels her love of children into her teaching career, Gelbspan devotes a lot of his time to his niece. The personal trainer posted a heartwarming video of the two of them on Instagram, with the caption: "To my beautiful niece, I promise to always love you unconditionally." Aw! Hopefully his time on "The Bachelorette" was a learning experience for Gelbspan, and he finds his "rose" one day.
