The Heartbreaking Death Of Il Divo Singer Carlos Marín

The music world is mourning the loss of Carlos Marín of Il Divo, who passed away due to COVID-19 at the age of 53 (per Daily Mail).

Born in Germany and raised in Spain, Marín recorded his first album at the age of 8 and appeared regularly on Spanish television before joining Il Divo, a multinational singing group created by Simon Cowell. Their first album was released in 2004, and their latest, "For Once in My Life: A Celebration of Motown," came out in July 2021 (per People).

The group had been on tour promoting the new album, with Marín last seen on stage in England on Dec. 6, 2021. Two days later, he was admitted into Manchester Royal Infirmary, where he was eventually placed in a medically induced coma and intubated.

"His ex-wife Geraldine Larrosa is with him in hospital because although they separated 12 years ago they remain great friends," Marín's agent revealed, adding that the singer had received the COVID-19 vaccine in Mexico, although it is unknown which shot was given.

While his bandmates, Urs Buhler, David Miller, and Sebastien Izambard, were sending prayers, they announced the sad news on Dec. 19, 2021, that Marín had passed.

"There wiIl never be another voice or spirit like Carlos," they said in a statement. "For 17 years the four of us have been on this incredible journey of Il Divo together, and we will miss our dear friend. We hope and pray that his beautiful soul will rest in peace."
