We Got Love Teyana And Iman Season 2: Release Date, Cast, And New Details
Apart from being a successful musician, you might recognize Teyana Taylor from her steamy appearance in Kanye West's music video for his hit song, "Fade," in which she donned only a sports bra and thong, according to W Magazine. In the early part of her career, Taylor also starred in an episode of MTV's "My Super Sweet Sixteen" and served as a background dancer in Jay Z's music video for "Blue Magic." Taylor's husband of five years is NBA basketball player Iman Shumpert. The couple shares two children together, Iman Jr. and Rue, per The Sun.
In the summer of 2021, Taylor allowed cameras inside of her home to film the first season of her brand new reality television show, "We Got Love Teyana and Iman." According to E! News, the reality television show follows Taylor, Shumpert, and their two daughters as they navigate balancing work and family life from their home in Atlanta, Georgia. "Usually my lens is on everybody else," Taylor told Maxim. "It feels good for the lens to be on me and my family so I can look back and know I did a good job as a mom, I did a good job as a director, I did a good job balancing careers, balance your love, things that are important and good. Life happens, and no regret in that. I love every bit of it."
When will the second season of We Got Love Teyana and Iman premiere?
At this point, E! has yet to announce when (or if) a second season of "We Got Love Teyana and Iman" will premiere on the television network. Despite the fact that E! has yet to officially announce the fate of the show, The Jasmine Brand reports that an inside source told the publication that the show had been renewed for a second season.
The first season of the show concluded in September 2021. Throughout its eight episodes, "We Got Love Teyana and Iman" showcased several milestones reached by the family. During an interview with Maxim, Teyana Taylor reflected on the strangeness of being filmed for months at a time and how the cameras managed to capture important milestones. "I can't just get up and go to Target," Taylor told Maxim. "I have to get up and know that there's three cameras and a whole production team, and they got to go and get it approved and all that other stuff that comes with it ... My baby, Rue, she took her first crawl on camera. And Junie, her first day back to school."
Cameras were also present as Taylor reflected on the difficulties that she faced in 2021 — including receiving emergency surgery to remove lumps found in her breasts. "It's been a rough year for me, but I feel like I overcame it and I did a great job of balancing everything, trying to be mommy, trying to be wife, trying to be an entrepreneur and everything else I have going on," Taylor said on the show, per The Jasmine Brand.
Who will be appearing in the second season of the show?
More than likely, when a second season of "We Got Love Teyana and Iman" premieres, it will feature Teyana Taylor, her husband, Iman Shumpert, and their two daughters, Iman Jr. and Rue. Though the singer and basketball player first met at a New York party in 2011, Taylor was dating someone at the time. According to E! News, after meeting a few times, Taylor was inspired to call Shumpert while grocery shopping in Harlem. As fate would have it, she was only a block away from Shumpert's apartment at the time, and she decided to pay a visit to him in person. After a few months of being friend-zoned by Taylor, Shumpert had finally enough, and the couple made their relationship official in 2014. "I had finally just dealt with her friend zone s***," Shumpert said during an episode of Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles' Knuckleheads podcast, per E! News. "Like, she had tried to friend-zone me the whole time, I wasn't going for it. After a while, I was just like, 'Alright, I don't care no more.'"
Just a year later, in 2015, their first daughter, Iman Dr. was born in a bathroom in their home. "Not knowing I was in labor until I felt her head ... it took two ten count pushes with my fiancé playing Dr and she entered this world into his bare hands!" Taylor said in an Instagram post just a day after her first daughter was born.
Is Taylor really retiring from the music industry?
In an Instagram post in 2020, Teyana Taylor, who has released three albums since 2014, revealed that she would be retiring from the music industry after feeling as though she had not been appreciated by Kanye West's G.O.O.D. record label and the rest of the music industry. "I ain't [gonna] front, in times of feeling super under-appreciated as [an] artist, receiving little to no real push from the 'machine,' constantly getting the shorter end of the stick, being overlooked, I mean the list on and on lol ... I'm retiring this chapter of my story with the comfort that I can depart with peace of mind seeing that all the hard work & passion put in was indeed loved & supported somewhere in the world!," Taylor said in an Instagram post.
During an appearance on Cam Newton's BET series "Sip 'N Smoke," Taylor explained that, while she wasn't exactly retiring, she was taking a step away from the industry for a bit to focus on her family. "I felt like the label wasn't really hearing me and seeing me," Taylor told Newton, per Complex. "I felt underappreciated. So, for my mental health, my mental well-being, for my kids, let me just put this on ice for a little [bit]. It's not that I retired permanently. It's more like, I just don't feel like I want to move another inch for a company." In the fall, Taylor embarked upon a reunion tour to celebrate her stepping away from music (at least for the time being).
