The Truth About Violetta Komyshan, Ansel Elgort's Girlfriend

Some relationships are written in the stars, even for A-list celebrities who struggle to maintain bonds through pressing time commitments. One such destined relationship could be that of Ansel Elgort and his on-again, off-again girlfriend. After meeting in high school, the two have been linked for nearly a decade. But outside of her relationship with "The Fault in Our Stars" actor, Violetta Komyshan has built an impressive career of her own.

The child of Ukrainian immigrants, Komyshan got her start as a dancer. She started dance lessons in Manhattan when she was just 11 and went on to enroll Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, where she majored in dance and met a young Elgort who was there studying acting, per The Famous People. From there, she went on to attend the American Academy of Dance in Paris and also danced at the Paris Opera Ballet. Komyshan's fame rose exponentially when photos of her and Algort began circulating. These days, much of her clout comes from her impressive Instagram following and regularly posted workout videos.

While she isn't known for acting herself, Komyshan appeared in the 2017 music video for "Thief" alongside her boyfriend and also had a cameo in his film "The Billionaire Boys Club," per IMDb.

Violetta Komyshan's relationship with Ansel Elgort

Violetta Komyshan first met Ansel Elgort during their high school years. Speaking with Cosmopolitan in 2017, Komyshan recalled their first encounter. "I was with my friend, and he was walking down the block ... I looked at him and told my friend, 'Oh, my God, that guy's so hot,' and she's like, 'Oh, that's Ansel, he goes to LaGuardia,'" she said at the time. "We exchanged numbers and became friends, and then we started dating when I was at the end of [my] sophomore year."

The two have been off and on since then, seemingly breaking up and reconnecting throughout the years. Per Us Weekly, their relationship struggled with Elgort's numerous filming schedules that made quality time difficult. Their first rough patch came with Elgort's 2014 breakout success, "The Fault in Our Stars." "They tried to navigate his commitments, but between filming and press for the movies [it got difficult]," a source told Us that year, adding that it was Elgort who ended things. He and Komyshan were back together the following year.

Since then, their relationship hasn't been without its ups and downs; but the couple appears to be going strong. Komyshan joined Elgort at the premiere of his most recent film, "West Side Story," per People, and they sure did look cute.
