Even though the "19 Kids & Counting" and "Counting On" series are over, many of the members of the Duggar family continue to keep their fans up to date through their personal websites and social media accounts. Among them is Jessa Duggar Seewald, the fifth of the siblings and the third daughter (via the Duggar Family). She and her husband, Ben, wed in 2014, and they have 4 children: Spurgeon, Henry, Ivy, and baby Fern, born last July. Seewald has an active presence on Instagram and Twitter, often sharing family photos along with sponsored posts about kids' clothing and coffee subscription boxes.
While many fans are thrilled to be able to keep up with the famous family, others feel that Seewald can go a bit too far. Recently, she's been tweeting quotes from her 3 older children under the hashtag #SeewaldKidsSay. Some of the quotes are "aww"-worthy, like the time Ivy was told to "hold her horses," and she cried, "But I don't know where my horses are!" Others are less so, like the children's candid remarks on bodily functions. Ivy has compared burping to "toot[ing] in my mouth," and Spurgeon once explained the numeric code for toilet needs ("1 is toot, 2 is pee, 3 is poop, and 4 is diarrhea"). Then, there was the time a friend dared Spurgeon to eat his boogers (he reported that it "didn't taste like ice cream. It was re-scgusting!").
Fans feel Jessa Duggar Seewald shares too much about her family
Yes, kids may say the darndest things, but Jessa Duggar Seewald's followers are crying TMI on some of her posts about her 4 children. They feel that quotes about farts and constipation belong in a private journal, not shared with millions of strangers. "Why on earth would you feel the need to share this?" one wrote on Reddit (via The US Sun). "These kids are going to be so traumatized when they're older."
Seewald has also been criticized in the past for a post showing the various messes in her house: dusty furniture, dishes piled in the sink, cluttered floors, a heap of used diapers piled on top of her dresser. Her message about prioritizing quality family time over housekeeping was lost on followers who thought the chaos was unsanitary. On other occasions, Seewald has shared videos of her children doing potentially dangerous things: helping her cut celery with a sharp knife, and climbing into the refrigerator to drink milk out of the jug.
Seewald understands the risks and benefits of having children under media scrutiny, having been there herself. At least 1 of her siblings has chosen a different path, however: Despite fan protests, Jinger Duggar Vuolo no longer shows her 2 daughters' faces on her social accounts, presumably for privacy's sake.
