The Best Crossovers Between The Bold And The Beautiful And The Young And The Restless

If you're a fan of either of the CBS daytime dramas "The Young and the Restless" or "The Bold and the Beautiful" (or both), then you know that the shows love to have characters crossover. Most recently, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman (Hunter King) went from "The Young and the Restless" to "The Bold and the Beautiful" in order to track down some dirt on fashion designer Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) (via Soap Hub).

TV Insider reported that the duo's 2021 appearance in Los Angeles was the first between the two soap operas since 2017. The two had hoped to take down Spectra, but considering they were in Italy while Spectra was working at Newman Media in Genoa City, it seemed that she may have gotten the short-term last laugh in that crossover. In fact, Spectra is one crossover that could end up being incredibly successful depending on how her story plays out on "The Young and the Restless."

While Abbott and Newman learned plenty about Sally's sordid past on their trip to Los Angles, it also led to a unique type of crossover when actor Don Diamont brought his "The Bold and the Beautiful" character "Dollar" Bill Spencer to "The Young and the Restless," where he'd previously portrayed Brad Carlton. The sister soaps have had several other popular crossovers throughout the years. Read on to find out which characters were the best at switching from Genoa City to Los Angeles and back.

Sheila Carter's crossover between shows was incredibly successful

Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) started out as a villain on "The Young and the Restless." But, according to Showbiz Cheatsheet, her reign of terror in Genoa City was supposed to be short-lived. However, due to the villain's popularity that viewers loved to hate, "The Young and the Restless" creator William J. Bell decided that Carter should crossover to "The Bold and the Beautiful," and the rest is history.

In an interview with The Locher Room, Brown revealed that Carter's move to Los Angeles "became probably the most successful crossover in daytime history." In fact, Carter has remained such a popular character, that she's appeared in Genoa City and Los Angeles several times over the years. In fact, the character is currently on "The Bold and the Beautiful," and she's working on some revenge on Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) (via CBS). In all, Carter is one character that fans of both soap operas know well.

Ashley Abbott enjoyed some time in Los Angeles

According to CBS, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) spent some time in Los Angeles after meeting Rick Forrester in France. In March 2007, she arrived in Los Angeles, where she worked as a fragrance designer for Forrester Creations, and she ended up starting a relationship with Rick's half-brother, Ridge Forrester. Ultimately, this led to a rivalry between Abbott and Brooke Logan, and they rarely saw eye-to-eye about things.

Abbott ended up being in Los Angeles until December 2008. Since then, she's been back in Genoa City off and on, working with her family, including a brief stint at Newman Enterprises. Right now, she's in France again, but who knows? Perhaps Abbott will find her way back to Los Angeles someday soon. Although, given she's now a grandmother to Abby Newman's (Melissa Ordway) baby, she may decide to spend any free time she has in Genoa City (via Soap Hub).

Lauren Fenmore's crossover to The Bold and the Beautiful was very successful

Of course, no reasonable discussion of "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful" crossovers is complete without mentioning Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey Bregman). Her storylines have something to do with Sheila Carter's, given that Carter terrorized Baldwin for years (via Showbiz Cheatsheet). In addition, after becoming friends with Baldwin, Eric Forrester (John McCook) showed up in Genoa City for Baldwin's 2005 wedding and a few other times to support his friend (via CBS).

Forrester and Baldwin had a relationship for a while, but ultimately, she backed off because of Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery). Even so, the former lovers remain close despite the distance between Los Angeles and Genoa City. So perhaps it's time for another crossover between these two. Will we see these dynamic characters on-screen together again soon? Time will tell for fans.

Deacon Sharpe romanced The Young and the Restless' Nikki Newman

Finally, Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) romanced "The Young and the Restless" character Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) after he'd caused issues on "The Bold and the Beautiful" with Brooke Logan, fathering her daughter, Hope. While Sharpe is currently back in Los Angeles trying to make amends with Logan and his daughter (Annika Noelle), a while back, he was in Genoa City with Newman and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) (via CBS).

In fact, Soap Hub speculates that when he's finished with his current time in Los Angeles, Sharpe will return to Genoa City to once again sweep Summers off her feet despite her growing closeness with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). It would make sense because "The Young and the Restless" has needed a villain for a while now, and Sharpe could fit the bill. But, of course, so could Sheila Carter. Perhaps multiple crossovers are looming on the horizon for these sister soaps.
