Makeup Looks That Will Pop In The Wintertime

Summer is gone, and we had fun with all the bright eyeshadow, coral lips, and shimmery skin (via Glamour), but it is time to play with makeup trends for 2022. As we switch our wardrobe to suit the winter weather, we can add new makeup to brighten the cold, gloomy days. We might not love the cold weather, but there is so much to love about winter makeup. It is the most wonderful time of the year to experiment with beauty looks, whether you want to go festive or keep it classic.

New York City-based makeup artist Suzy Gerstein told The Zoe Report, "We seem to have [become] tired of the cookie-cutter, Instagram makeup trends — like contour, highlight, bake,  and repeat." She added that it is time to celebrate your individualism and do what works for you instead of following trends. Byrdie considers winter makeup their favorite because you no longer have to deal with sweaty skin and can experiment more without worrying whether the makeup will last all day or not. You might want to keep things looking more natural in the summer, but the winter is the time to play up your most beautiful features.

Here are the hottest makeup looks for the winter

You can't go wrong with classic red lips with L'Oréal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Lip Stain in I Don't, as recommended by L'Oréal Paris USA, because you will look put together without doing your whole face. If red isn't your thing, Cosmopolitan loves the burgundy lip trend. Try Dior Rouge Dior Forever Liquid Transfer-Proof Lipstick in Forever Shock because with this you can get statement lips without the intense, in-your-face red. For cheeks, you can fake the perfect rosy look with Elle's favorite winter look, "Cheek Chic," with cream blush because it adds a flush of color and also keeps your dry skin hydrated. Rare Beauty's cream blush is perfect to create this look.

The Zoe Report (TZR) suggests making your look pop with metallics for your eyes with Chanel Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Quad — especially if you don't want to go for the tried-and-true smoky eyes. Celebrity makeup artist Gita Bass told TZR, "This sort of makeup is bold and fun and looks gorgeous when photographed, which is the main priority right now." Harper's Bazaar predicts disco makeup will be big this winter with crystals around your eyes for that sparkling pop. Try using ColourPop Mixed Crystal Face Jewels with tweezers to place them strategically around your eyes or eyebrows. You can shine (and stand out) bright like a diamond.
