The Heartbreaking Death Of 16 And Pregnant Star Jordan Cashmyer

TMZ reports that "16 and Pregnant" star Jordan Cashmyer has sadly passed away. The reality star and mother was just 26 years-old. Cashmyer appeared on the long-running show, which made stars out of the likes of Amber Portwood, Leah Messer, and Maci Bookout, back in 2014 alongside her baby daddy, Derek Taylor. The couple had a tumultuous time on "16 and Pregnant," from being homeless to fighting with their disapproving families, and sadly things went from bad to worse when MTV wrapped production.

The couple broke up but couldn't co-parent their daughter Evie adequately, leading Cashmyer's father and stepmother to share guardianship with Taylor while they tried to sort their situation out. Cashmyer subsequently signed her custody rights away to Taylor's mother, in 2015, albeit only on a temporary basis, as she battled various personal issues. The reality star continued to struggle to get her life together, ending up working in a strip club and being arrested for drug possession, most recently in 2017.

Unfortunately, her story has ended on a very sad note.

Jordan Cashmyer was trying to get her life together

Per Hollywood Life, although the "16 and Pregnant" star Jordan Cashmyer was doing her best to turn things around, and even celebrated one year of sobriety in January 2021, everything seemed to get worse after the show. The young mother even attempted suicide in 2014. At the time, she wrote on Facebook, "I felt that there wasn't much of a reason to live anymore. After trying to overdose, I was taken to a hospital and have been in there since then." Cashmyer later entered a drug rehab facility in 2016.

In the wake of Jordan's passing, her mother Jessica posted a statement to Facebook. "Last night I received a call no parent ever wants," she began the post. "My oldest beloved daughter, Jordan has passed away, she was only 26 years old. Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child, EVER."

Jessica ended her post by asking for prayers and privacy during this difficult time. Jordan passed away in Maryland but no cause of death has yet been revealed, per Variety.
